Job Overview: The Inclusive Market Systems Coordinator will work under the supervision of the Head of Programs, providing strategic guidance, capacity strengthening, and technical leadership to DRC Kenya’s Market Systems and Economic Recovery portfolio. The role aims to promote self-reliance and resilience for populations affected by conflict, climate change, and displacement in Kenya and the wider region. The coordinator will ensure the application of Market Systems Approaches methodology throughout the program lifecycle, including proposal design, sector selection, market systems analysis, and intervention planning. The position also involves collaboration with other technical leads and partners to enhance integrated programming and develop DRC’s Economic Recovery portfolio strategically.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide technical advice and quality assurance on Market Systems Approaches across the program lifecycle.
Lead the planning and design of participatory Market Systems Approaches for Economic Recovery programming.
Collaborate with technical leads and counterparts to maximize integrated programming opportunities.
Contribute to the strategic development of DRC’s Economic Recovery portfolio.
Identify technical gaps and provide training and capacity building for DRC staff and local partners.
Design and monitor economic recovery and livelihoods interventions, ensuring compliance with DRC’s standards.
Develop partnerships with local NGOs and private sector service providers.
Support organizational risk management related to Market Systems Approaches.
Perform any other duties as agreed with the Head of Programs.
Required Qualifications:
Technical competence in at least three domains such as system vulnerability analysis, use of cash and vouchers in emergencies, self-reliance programming, financial inclusion, agro-pastoral livelihoods, livestockvalue chain development, business development, and youth and women’s economic empowerment.
Strong analytical skills and experience in quantitative and qualitative data analysis.
Excellent drafting skills in English and experience in report writing for diverse audiences.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Economics, Development Studies, or a relevant field is required for this position.
Experience: A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, particularly with an NGO, United Nations, or civil society organization. Experience in using research methodologies and data collection tools is essential, along with a background in developing advocacy plans and conducting advocacy activities with various stakeholders.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, while proficiency in Swahili or Somali is desirable.
Additional Notes: The position is a one-year contract with the possibility of extension, subject to funding and performance. The salary and other conditions are in accordance with DRC’s Terms of Employment. The duty station is Nairobi, with frequent travel to field offices within Kenya.
