Job Overview: The position of Coordinadora Agua, Saneamiento e Higiene (WASH) - Equipo de Emergencia involves leading and coordinating WASH interventions in emergency settings. The coordinator will work closely with local authorities, community leaders, and other stakeholders to ensure that the WASH needs of affected populations are met. This position also entails monitoring and evaluating the impact of WASH interventions, providing technical guidance to field teams, and reporting on progress to senior management and donors. Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead the assessment of WASH needs in emergency-affected areas and develop appropriate response strategies.
Design and implement WASH programs that meet the needs of affected populations while adhering to international standards.
Coordinate with local authorities, NGOs, and community organizations to ensure effective collaboration and resource sharing.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of WASH interventions, making adjustments as necessary to improve outcomes.
Provide technical support and training to field staff and volunteers on WASH best practices.
Prepare and submit regular reports on WASH activities, progress, and challenges to senior management and donors.
Ensure the proper management of WASH supplies and resources, including procurement and distribution.
Advocate for the importance of WASH in emergency response and contribute to the development of organizational policies and strategies.
Required Qualifications:
Proven experience in WASH programming in emergency contexts, with a strong understanding of humanitarian principles.
Excellent project management skills, including planning, implementation, and evaluation of WASH programs.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in diverse teams and with various stakeholders.
Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing circumstances in emergency situations.
Educational Background: A degree in Environmental Science, Public Health, Civil Engineering, or a related field is required. A master's degree in a relevant discipline is preferred and may enhance the candidate's qualifications for the role.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in WASH programming, with at least 2 years in emergency response settings. Experience working with international NGOs or UN agencies is highly desirable.
Languages: Fluency in Spanish is mandatory, and proficiency in English is highly desirable. Knowledge of additional languages relevant to the operational context is a plus.
