Job Overview:
The Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Officer at NRC Kenya will play a crucial role in supporting the monitoring and evaluation of ongoing programs implemented by NRC and its partners. This position requires a strong technical background in M&E, as the officer will be responsible for organizing and delivering various M&E activities. The M&E Officer will report directly to the M&E Manager and will be expected to travel to implementation sites, including Dadaab and Kakuma, to ensure effective monitoring and evaluation processes are in place. The role involves contributing to the development and implementation of M&E systems, participating in design" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">program design discussions, and supporting partner staff in executing M&E plans. The M&E Officer will also be involved in capacity building and training of partner staff, ensuring that they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to carry out M&E activities effectively.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The M&E Officer will have a comprehensive set of duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to:
  • Adhering to NRC policies, guidance, and procedures related to monitoring and evaluation.
  • Supporting the development and implementation of partner M&E systems, including the creation of M&E Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), guidance documents, and tools.
  • Participating in program design and proposal discussions, contributing to the development of theories of change, logical frameworks, and budgeting for M&E activities.
  • Assisting partner staff in planning and executing M&E activities, including data collection methodologies, tools, and data management processes.
  • Supporting the implementation, dissemination, and utilization of evaluations, assessments, and monitoring data to inform program development and adjustments.
  • Contributing to organizational learning by analyzing data, documenting lessons learned, and preparing reports.
  • Providing capacity building and training for partner and M&E support staff on technical and conceptual aspects of M&E.
  • Mentoring partner M&E support staff in the execution of M&E plans and activities.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the M&E Officer position must possess several key qualifications, including:
  • A Bachelor's Degree in information management, mathematics, statistics, or a related field.
  • Documented results that demonstrate the candidate's ability to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.
  • Proficiency in English is essential for effective communication and reporting.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field such as information management, mathematics, statistics, or other related disciplines.
