Job Overview:
The UNFPA Representative leads a country office team in the design and implementation of a comprehensive population and development program, with a strong focus on sexual and reproductive health. This role involves building alliances and partnerships with various stakeholders, including governments, civil society, and the private sector, to ensure the effective realization of the 2030 Agenda. The Representative is responsible for promoting UNFPA's mandate and integrating sexual and reproductive health issues into the national development agenda. The position requires a strategic leader who can navigate complex environments and advocate for the rights and needs of vulnerable populations, particularly women and youth.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Representative's duties include providing strategic direction and management for the country office, ensuring alignment with global and regional UNFPA priorities. This involves establishing institutional relationships with government counterparts and other stakeholders, leading the development of a strategic plan for humanitarian actions, and managing both international and national staff. The Representative is also responsible for overseeing program implementation, ensuring compliance with UNFPA policies, and driving resource mobilization efforts. Additionally, the role includes representing UNFPA in inter-agency discussions, advocating for the organization's agenda, and ensuring accountability for humanitarian response efforts.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a postgraduate university degree in relevant fields such as Public Health, Medicine, Sociology, or International Development. They should have at least 15 years of progressively responsible professional experience in public administration and international development, with a minimum of 10 years in population and development or sexual and reproductive health. Proven leadership skills, experience in advocacy and policy dialogue, and a strong understanding of the UNFPA mandate are essential. Field experience, particularly in developing or crisis contexts, is highly valued.

Educational Background:
A postgraduate university degree in disciplines such as Public Health, Medicine, Sociology, Demography, Gender, International Relations, International Development, Economics, Public Administration, or Management is required for this position. This educational background is critical for understanding the complexities of population and development issues and for effectively leading programs that address these challenges.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 15 years of increasingly responsible professional experience in public administration and international development. At least 10 years of this experience should be in the field of population and development, sexual and reproductive health, or humanitarian work at the international level. Candidates should demonstrate a proven ability to lead teams and achieve high-quality results, as well as experience in advocacy and policy dialogue at both national and international levels.

Languages:
Fluency in English and French is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in any other UN language is considered desirable, as it enhances communication and collaboration with diverse stakeholders in the international arena.
