Job Overview: The Field Security Assistant position is crucial for the safety and security of United Nations personnel in the Area of Responsibility. Reporting to the Chief Security Officer, the assistant will support the Guard Force Unit Supervisor in implementing security operations. This role involves monitoring access to the UN compound, managing communication systems, and responding to emergencies. The Field Security Assistant will also be responsible for maintaining logs, preparing reports, and providing information to personnel. The position requires a proactive approach to security, ensuring that all potential threats are identified and addressed promptly. The assistant will play a key role in data collection and analysis, contributing to the overall security strategy of the mission.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Field Security Assistant will have a range of responsibilities, including:
Screening all personnel, packages, and vehicles entering the UN compound to ensure authorized access.
Providing continuous coverage of cameras, telephone, and radio communications systems in the Control Center.
Preparing daily and weekly work schedules and various periodic reports.
Alerting relevant units and dispatching security personnel during emergencies and incidents.
Maintaining logs and rosters, and initiating chronological logs of events during emergencies.
Providing information and directions to all individuals associated with the organization.
Controlling pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
Reporting any potential or actual breaches of security and unusual activities immediately.
Ensuring that all UN property being carried from the complex is checked for appropriate documentation. 1
Assisting with data collection and analysis, and preparing presentations and reports for information sharing. 1
Updating information materials such as web pages or brochures as needed.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a high school diploma or an equivalent technical or vocational certificate. Additionally, a minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in security services with a military, police, or private security company is required. The role demands a strong understanding of security protocols and the ability to operate effectively in high-pressure situations. Candidates should demonstrate professionalism, effective communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
