Job Overview:
The Public Information Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the communication efforts of ECLAC. This position involves researching, compiling, and presenting information for the preparation and production of various communication products and services. The assistant will serve as a photographic assistant, producing digital images, photo prints, and writing captions for UN photos. Additionally, the role includes coordinating media coverage for significant events, liaising with news agencies, public relations firms, and UN photographers to ensure proper coverage and technical arrangements. The assistant will also create promotional materials using relevant computer software, assist in video/film projects, and provide guidance and training to junior staff. The position requires a proactive approach to data collection and analysis, as well as updating information materials such as web pages and brochures. Overall, the Public Information Assistant is expected to contribute to the effective dissemination of public information and support ECLAC's mission.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Public Information Assistant will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including: researching and compiling information for communication products; serving as a photographic assistant, producing digital images and photo prints; coordinating media coverage for important events; liaising with news agencies and public relations firms; creating designs for promotional materials; assisting in the production and editing of video/film projects; tracking production materials and obtaining necessary clearances; providing guidance and training to junior staff; collecting and analyzing data for presentations and reports; updating information materials; and performing other duties as assigned. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and external partners.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Additionally, technical or vocational studies in photography are required. The position demands at least five years of experience in public communication, international broadcasting, or a related area. However, this requirement is reduced to three years for candidates with a first-level university degree or higher. Experience in data analytics or a related field is desirable, highlighting the need for a well-rounded skill set in communication and data management.

Educational Background:
A high school diploma or equivalent is mandatory for this position. Candidates are required to clearly indicate their completion of high school in their Applicant Profile. Furthermore, technical or vocational studies in photography are essential, indicating the importance of specialized training in this area.

Experience:
