Job Overview:
The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is within the Green Climate Fund (GCF) Business Development Unit (BDU) under the Client and Business Development (AGE) sector. The BDU is responsible for key account management with the GCF and the development of project proposals for GIZ to be submitted to the GCF. Interns will gain insights into the consulting spectrum, processes, and organization of the BDU. They will deepen their understanding of current developments in climate financing and GIZ's project work related to climate change mitigation and adaptation. A significant focus of the internship will be on developing a project proposal for an early warning system in Algeria, providing interns with practical experience in project development and strategic recommendations based on GCF developments.

Duties and Responsibilities:
As an intern, you will support project developers in various tasks, including participation in planning workshops, project conceptualization, and team meetings. You will be responsible for commenting on studies and plausibility checks, conducting research, and creating informational and working materials, primarily in English, with possible contributions in Spanish or French. Additionally, you will assist in planning, conducting, and following up on meetings with internal and external stakeholders. Your role will also involve preparing presentation materials, project plans, and summaries for meetings, as well as supporting knowledge management and document organization.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates should be pursuing a degree in climate science, political science, or economics with a focus on environmental studies, data and early warning systems, or international finance. Relevant knowledge and a strong affinity for climate change and climate financing are essential. Candidates should also have initial experience in project management and/or development cooperation. A structured approach to tasks and problem-solving, self-initiative, self-organization, and flexibility are crucial. Teamwork and sensitive communication skills with various stakeholders are also required. Proficiency in standard MS Office applications and skills in graphical representation in PowerPoint are necessary, along with excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and French.

Educational Background:
The position requires candidates to be currently enrolled in a degree program, participating in a training program that includes an internship, or having graduated no more than six months prior to the start of the internship.

Experience:
Candidates should have initial experience in project management or development cooperation, which can be gained through academic projects, internships, or relevant volunteer work. This experience will help them understand the dynamics of working in an international development context and contribute effectively to the team's objectives.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in French is also required, and knowledge of Spanish would be advantageous, enhancing the candidate's ability to work with diverse stakeholders and materials.
