Job Overview:
The GIZ Data Lab operates within the technical and methodological sector of GIZ, serving as a service provider for internal clients across the organization. The Data Lab is dedicated to the effective, fair, and responsible use of digital data for sustainable development. It aims to bring together thought leaders and practitioners to leverage digital data for enhanced evidence, impact, and efficiency in GIZ's offerings. The Data Lab plays a crucial role in integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into the organization's services and processes, utilizing its extensive network and expertise to drive innovation and data-driven solutions.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will support the setup and implementation of various data-driven experiments and use cases in areas such as Data Feminism, climate protection, circular economy, and international negotiations, collaborating with GIZ projects and partner organizations worldwide. Responsibilities include assisting the team with project management tasks, conducting thematic research, preparing documents and presentations, managing knowledge, and communicating effectively with target audiences. The intern will also help identify and develop new innovative project ideas related to digital data for sustainable development, structure and document learning experiences related to data-driven solutions, and conduct independent research to create knowledge products like 'Media Digests' on emerging technologies such as AI. Additionally, the intern will support communication and public relations efforts, including maintaining the Data Lab Blog, managing social media activities, creating blog posts, designing presentations, and identifying relevant events for participation in online webinars.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates should be enrolled in their studies from the 3rd semester onward in fields such as economics, international studies, data science, information management, physics, communication sciences, geosciences, or any social science discipline. Experience in Data4Development, emerging technologies, or similar fields, along with initial experience in handling and analyzing quantitative data, is essential. A strong affinity for digitalization and innovation topics, as well as an interest in technological and data-related trends, is required. Practical work experience in development cooperation is a plus, along with proven experience in creating communication materials, including design. Candidates should possess the ability to write and present information clearly and appropriately for different audiences, demonstrate initiative, flexibility, and the ability to work independently and in a structured manner.

Educational Background:
The position requires candidates to be currently enrolled in a university program, with the internship being a mandatory part of their studies or having graduated no more than six months prior to the start of the internship.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have some experience in the relevant fields, particularly in handling quantitative data and working on projects related to digital data and sustainable development. Previous internships or practical experiences in development cooperation will be advantageous.

Languages:
Fluency in both English and German is required, with excellent communication skills in both languages being essential for the role. Additional language skills may be beneficial but are not mandatory.
