Job Overview:
The position involves formulating a financing program proposal specifically for livestock under silvopastoral systems. The contractor will be responsible for developing a comprehensive proposal that addresses the needs of livestock producers while promoting sustainable production models. This role requires a deep understanding of agricultural extension services, technical assistance, and training for livestock producers. The contractor will work closely with local stakeholders and may need to travel to various regions in Peru, including Huánuco, San Martin, and Madre de Dios, to gather information and engage with the community. The position is expected to last for 90 calendar days, and the contractor will need to demonstrate a strong background in relevant fields such as veterinary medicine, animal science, economics, or administration.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop a detailed proposal for a financing program aimed at improving livestock production under sustainable practices.
  • Conduct field visits to the regions of Huánuco, San Martin, and Madre de Dios to assess local needs and gather data.
  • Collaborate with local agricultural extension services and stakeholders to ensure the proposal aligns with community needs.
  • Provide technical assistance and training to livestock producers on sustainable practices.
  • Prepare and submit progress reports and a final proposal document to UNDP.
  • Respond to inquiries and provide clarifications regarding the proposal as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with UNDP procurement processes and guidelines throughout the project.

Required Qualifications:
  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in animal science, veterinary medicine, economics, administration, or related fields.
  • At least 5 years of experience in the public and/or private sector, with a focus on agricultural development.
  • Proven experience in agricultural extension services, technical assistance, or training for livestock producers.
  • Experience in sustainable livestock production models is essential.
  • Familiarity with financing models for agricultural programs is a plus.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess at least a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as animal science, veterinary medicine, economics, or administration. Advanced degrees or specialized training in sustainable agriculture or livestock management will be considered an advantage.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the agricultural sector, particularly in roles that involve public or private sector engagement. Candidates should have at least 2 experiences related to agricultural extension services or technical assistance, and at least one year of experience in sustainable livestock production activities. Experience in formulating financing models for agricultural programs is also required.

Languages:
Fluency in Spanish is mandatory, as the position involves working closely with local stakeholders and communities. Proficiency in English is considered a good to have, as it may facilitate communication with international partners and stakeholders.
