Job Overview: The position of Associado(a) de Pesquisa is integral to the innovation laboratory of the project BRA/21/002, which focuses on strengthening capacities and promoting innovation within the Public Defender's Office of the Union (DPU) in alignment with the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The selected candidate will engage in various research activities that contribute to the project's objectives, which include developing methodologies, conducting qualitative and quantitative analyses, and ensuring effective data management. The role requires collaboration with both the DPU and UNDP teams to produce actionable insights that support the project's goals. The project is expected to run until December 31, 2025, with potential extensions based on needs and outcomes.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Associado(a) de Pesquisa will be responsible for producing and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data under the supervision of project management. Key responsibilities include:
Developing research projects and methodological designs, including monitoring and evaluating institutional policies and programs to ensure quality and relevance.
Conducting quantitative research, such as diagnostics and analytical materials, using various techniques for collecting and analyzing primary and secondary data.
Organizing and managing data sources, ensuring efficient structuring, storage, and sustainability of information.
Creating interactive data dashboards using tools like Power BI and Shiny for visualizing and tracking research results and other data.
Preparing reports and participating in meetings and events to disseminate results to the public and train internal audiences.
Supporting the supervision of products and consultancies and producing management documents as needed by the project. The incumbent may also perform other functions within their functional profile deemed necessary for the program's effective operation.
Required Qualifications: Minimum education requirements include a High School diploma. A higher education degree (Bachelor's) in Statistics, Social Sciences, Public Policy, Economics, Law, or related fields from a Higher Education Institution recognized by the Ministry of Education (MEC) will be given due consideration but is not mandatory. Candidates must possess at least 6 years of relevant professional experience (for High School or Technical/Professional courses) or 3 years (for Higher Education) in data extraction, processing, and analysis from national databases. Additionally, candidates should have a minimum of 3 years of experience (professional and/or academic) in areas related to Human Rights, access to justice, and/or ensuring rights for vulnerable individuals, along with excellent oral and written communication skills and proficiency in information technology, particularly the Microsoft Office suite.
Educational Background: Candidates must have at least a High School diploma, with preference given to those holding a Bachelor's degree in relevant fields such as Statistics, Social Sciences, Public Policy, Economics, or Law from an accredited institution. Advanced degrees such as a postgraduate diploma, Master's, or PhD in Statistics, Data Science, or related areas are highly desirable and will enhance a candidate's profile.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 6 years of relevant professional experience for candidates with a High School diploma or Technical/Professional qualification, or 3 years for those with a Bachelor's degree. Experience should be focused on data extraction, treatment, and analysis within national databases. Additionally, candidates should have a solid background in Human Rights, access to justice, and working with vulnerable populations, with a proven track record of producing analytical reports and research documentation.
Languages: Fluency in Portuguese is required for this position, while a basic level of English is desirable. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, enhancing communication and collaboration within the international context of UNDP's operations.
