Job Overview: The Internal Audit Specialist position at UNICEF is designed for a seasoned professional who will assist the Internal Audit Manager and/or Senior Internal Audit Manager. The role involves leading a team in providing assurance and advisory services, with a focus on internal auditing. The incumbent is expected to have a deep understanding of internal auditing practices and to work with minimal supervision. Responsibilities include participating in risk assessments, planning assurance services, and evaluating governance and risk management processes. The position is critical in ensuring that UNICEF's operations are effective and aligned with its objectives, thereby contributing to the organization's mission of serving the world's most disadvantaged children.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Participate in risk assessments and planning for assurance and advisory services.
Collaborate with various stakeholders to enhance audit processes and outcomes.
Stay updated on best practices in internal auditing and apply them to UNICEF's operations.
Required Qualifications:
Advanced University Degree (Master's or equivalent) in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Accounting, Risk Prevention, Information Technology, or related fields.
A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area combined with 2 additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree.
At least 5 years of relevant work experience in audit and investigation, internal auditing, or external auditing.
Strong skills in audit governance, risk management, analytical thinking, and problem-solving.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree or equivalent in relevant fields such as Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Accounting, Risk Prevention, or Information Technology. Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area with additional work experience may be considered. Professional certifications such as Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Accountant (CA), or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) are also highly regarded.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in audit and investigation, with a strong background in internal and external auditing. Candidates should demonstrate a proven track record of effectively assessing governance and risk management processes.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) or a local language is desirable. This multilingual capability is beneficial for engaging with diverse stakeholders and enhancing communication within the organization.
