Job Overview: The position of Logisticien.ne at Solidarités International (SI) involves the implementation and supervision of all logistical activities at the assigned base in Baga Sola, Chad. The logistician is responsible for organizing logistical support for programs while adhering to the procedures set by Solidarités International and its donors. This role requires the logistician to be proactive in proposing logistical improvements for the development of activities and to assist the logistics team in enhancing their capabilities. The logistician will also support the field coordinator in implementing security protocols and will serve as the primary contact for logistical matters within the intervention zone.
Duties and Responsibilities: The logistician will be responsible for the following duties:
Implementing and supervising all logistical activities at the base, ensuring compliance with SI procedures and donor requirements.
Organizing logistical support for programs, including procurement, stock management, and equipment handling.
Training and mentoring the logistics team to enhance their skills and competencies.
Negotiating with suppliers to secure the best services and prices.
Managing administrative documents related to vehicles, including log books, contracts, and insurance.
Maintaining accurate records of vehicle consumption and ensuring efficient fuel management.
Collaborating with the field coordinator to ensure adherence to security protocols and effective communication with local authorities.
Contributing to the restructuring of the base as needed, based on donor feedback and project continuity.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess the following qualifications:
A higher education degree in logistics or a related field.
A minimum of 3-4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, specifically in a logistics role.
Comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of logistics, including operational logistics related to water, hygiene, and sanitation (EHA) and food security.
Strong reporting skills, both oral and written, with the ability to communicate effectively in multicultural environments.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a higher education degree in logistics or a related field. This educational foundation is essential for understanding the complexities of logistics management in humanitarian settings and for effectively implementing logistical support for various programs.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have 3-4 years of relevant experience in the humanitarian sector, specifically in logistics roles. This experience should include a proven track record of managing logistical operations, coordinating with various stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with organizational and donor procedures.
Languages: Fluency in French is mandatory for this position, given the operational context in Chad. Proficiency in English is considered an asset, as it may facilitate communication with international teams and stakeholders.

The position is based in Baga Sola, Chad, which is characterized by basic living conditions. The salary for this position starts at EUR 2310 gross per month, which includes a base salary and a 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly. Additionally, a monthly per diem of 450,000 CFA francs is provided. SI covers accommodation costs and travel expenses between the expatriate's home country and the place of assignment. The organization also offers a break system, allowing for 7 working days off every three months, along with an additional day of rest for each month worked. Expatriates receive comprehensive health insurance that covers medical expenses, including dental and ophthalmological care, as well as necessary vaccinations and malaria treatment. The living conditions in Baga Sola are basic, with limited leisure options, but the area is home to several international NGOs and UN agencies.
