Job Overview:
The intern position at SECU is designed to provide support for the unit's operations, particularly in raising awareness of SECU's functions and conducting outreach campaigns. The intern will assist in various tasks, including policy and factual research, social media management, and logistical support for events. This role is crucial for ensuring that UNDP projects adhere to social and environmental standards, and the intern will gain valuable experience in compliance reviews, outreach strategies, and administrative processes. The internship is expected to last for six months, starting in April 2025, and will provide an opportunity to work closely with professionals in the field of international development and compliance.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks under the supervision of the SECU Head of Unit. These tasks include assisting in policy and factual research, contributing to social media and outreach campaigns, editing and drafting documents, identifying and analyzing potential evidence, coordinating logistics for events, and supporting the intake and processing of complaints. The intern may also assist in translations if multilingual and will undertake other related functions as requested by the SECU Head of Unit or other staff members.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and should be currently enrolled in or have recently graduated from a related graduate program such as international development, public policy, human rights, or law" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">environmental law. Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs is required, along with excellent research, writing, communication, and editing skills. Knowledge of social media platforms is essential, and familiarity with graphic design and video-editing software is desirable. An interest or experience in law, compliance, and international development is also beneficial.

Educational Background:
The position requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, with a preference for candidates who are currently enrolled in or have recently graduated from a relevant graduate program. Fields of study may include international development, public policy, human rights, environmental law, communications, or other related disciplines.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have a foundational understanding of compliance mechanisms and international development. Experience with Microsoft Office programs is mandatory, and familiarity with social media platforms is necessary. While prior internship experience is not explicitly required, any relevant experience in research, writing, or administrative tasks will be advantageous. Knowledge of graphic design and video-editing software is considered a plus, as is any experience in law or alternative dispute resolution.

Languages:
Fluency in written and spoken English is required for this position. Additionally, fluency in Arabic or French is highly desirable, and proficiency in other languages is considered beneficial. Additional Notes:
The internship is located at UNDP Headquarters in New York City and will last for a period of six months. It is a full-time internship, although part-time arrangements may be possible depending on the intern's availability. The internship is expected to commence in April 2025, and UNDP offers a monthly stipend of $1000 for full-time interns, which will be pro-rated for part-time arrangements. Interns are responsible for their own travel, accommodation, and living expenses. It is important to note that individuals who are children or siblings of UNDP staff members are not eligible to apply for this internship.
