Duties and Responsibilities: The Public Information Assistant will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including:
Providing specialized assistance in the production and delivery of information communications products, including editing and promoting platform-optimized social media assets.
Researching a broad scope of information sources, both printed and electronic, to compile and present information for social media communications products.
Organizing and executing special events and social media activations, coordinating with diverse partners to highlight key events and campaigns.
Handling administrative coordination for social media-focused training and guidance.
Overseeing the distribution of social media materials and ensuring proper management and preservation of relevant content.
Serving as a social media content coordinator, managing day-to-day content activities, and collaborating with the social media team lead.
Producing a variety of promotional social media products and developing mechanisms for data insight collection.
Assisting in the production and editing of social media projects, including researching topics and selecting visual materials.
Identifying and preparing new social media material for posting, ensuring compliance with UN standards. 1
Managing updates to internal databases and generating reports on social media insights. 1
Providing guidance and training to junior staff members. 1
Performing other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a minimum of seven years of experience in public communication, international broadcasting, or a related area. This requirement is reduced to five years for candidates with a first-level university degree or higher. Experience in producing, editing, and promoting platform-optimized social media assets in Kiswahili is essential. Additionally, candidates should have experience in managing a global social media presence, including drafting and editing content in Kiswahili, and researching social media content for target audiences in an international context is desirable.
Educational Background: A high school diploma or equivalent is required for this position. While specific job-related qualifications are not detailed, a first-level university degree or higher may reduce the required years of experience.
