Job Overview: The intern will be part of UNEP FI’s Principles for Sustainable Insurance initiative (PSI), which aims to strengthen the insurance industry's contribution to building resilient, inclusive, and sustainable communities and economies. The intern will support communication with insurance members and external stakeholders, assist in program management of various insurance initiatives, organize meetings and events, conduct research on sustainable insurance topics, and maintain the PSI web presence. The role offers the opportunity to manage tasks and small projects independently as the internship progresses, providing a comprehensive experience in sustainable finance and insurance.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Support communication with insurance members and various external stakeholders.
Assist in the program management of the PSI and various insurance initiatives, particularly the V20 Sustainable Insurance Facility.
Organize meetings and events, handling both logistical and content-related aspects.
Conduct research on sustainable insurance topics to inform initiatives and strategies.
Keep the PSI web presence updated with relevant information and resources.
Participate in meetings and calls with insurance members, experts, and external stakeholders to facilitate collaboration and knowledge sharing.
Assist with other relevant tasks as needed, contributing to the overall success of the initiatives.
Work on topics of personal interest related to sustainable insurance, allowing for professional growth and development.
Required Qualifications: Applicants must meet one of the following requirements at the time of application: a. Be enrolled in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); b. Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); c. Have graduated with a university degree and must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation. Relevant studies in finance, insurance, economics, sustainable development, communications, environmental sciences, or international relations/affairs are essential. Professional work experience is not required, but a closely related field of study is necessary.
Educational Background: Candidates must be students in the final year of their first university degree (Bachelor's or equivalent), or enrolled in a Master's or Ph.D. program, or have completed a Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. program. Proof of enrollment or a degree certificate must be provided as part of the application process.
Experience: No professional work experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. However, relevant academic experience or coursework in fields related to sustainable finance, insurance, or environmental studies is beneficial. The internship is designed to provide practical experience and exposure to the workings of the United Nations and its initiatives.
Languages: Fluency in oral and written English is required for this internship. Knowledge of French, which is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat, is also necessary. Familiarity with another UN language is considered desirable, enhancing communication capabilities within the diverse environment of the UN.
