Job Overview:
The Driver position at UNOPS involves providing reliable and safe driving services for the transport of authorized personnel, materials, and equipment. Under the guidance of the Senior Admin Associate, the Driver is expected to maintain a client-oriented approach, demonstrating a high sense of responsibility, courtesy, and tact while working with individuals from diverse national and cultural backgrounds. The role requires ensuring the proper use and maintenance of the assigned vehicle, including keeping accurate logs, performing minor repairs, and ensuring cleanliness. The Driver must also facilitate airport pickups and manage necessary documentation and supplies related to the vehicle. Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide reliable and secure driving services for the transport of authorized personnel, materials, and equipment.
  • Collect and deliver mail, documents, and other items as needed.
  • Meet official personnel at the airport and assist with immigration and customs formalities.
  • Maintain accurate daily vehicle logs and contribute to vehicle maintenance plans and reports.
  • Conduct routine checks on the vehicle, including oil, water, battery, brakes, and tires.
  • Perform minor repairs and arrange for major repairs when necessary.
  • Ensure the vehicle is kept clean at all times.
  • Maintain all required documents and supplies, including vehicle insurance, logs, maps, and first aid kits.
  • Take immediate action as required by rules and regulations in case of an accident. 1
  • Perform other related assignments as requested by supervisors.

Required Qualifications:
  • Completion of secondary school or equivalent is desirable.
  • Driver's training is highly desirable.
  • A certificate in AV/B6 is considered an asset.
  • Minimum of two years of work experience as a driver is required.
  • Knowledge of driving rules and regulations is essential.
  • Skills in minor vehicle repairs are an asset.
  • A valid driver's license is mandatory.

Educational Background:
The position requires at least the completion of secondary school or an equivalent level of education. Additionally, driver's training is highly desirable, and having a certificate in AV/B6 is considered an asset for this role.

Experience:
Candidates must have a minimum of two years of work experience as a driver. This experience should include a thorough understanding of driving rules and regulations, as well as practical skills in minor vehicle repairs, which are considered beneficial for the role.

Languages:
The position requires proficiency in Arabic, which is mandatory. An intermediate level of English is also required, allowing for effective communication in a bilingual environment.

The contract type for this position is an Individual Contractual Agreement (Local ICA) with a retainer contract level of LICA
  • The contract duration is for one year, with a total of 180 days of work, averaging 15 days each month.
