Established under the FAO Constitution, the General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean (GFCM) aims to develop, conserve, and manage living marine resources sustainably. The GFCM operates in the Mediterranean and the Black Sea, focusing on compliance, aquaculture, livelihoods, and capacity development, with a commitment to the United NationsSustainable Development Goals.
Job Overview: The Fishery Officer will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with GFCM policies among Contracting Parties and Cooperating non-Contracting Parties. This position involves leading the GFCM Secretariat Compliance Team and collaborating with various stakeholders to support the implementation of GFCM's strategic objectives. The officer will be responsible for developing frameworks for monitoring and reporting, conducting research, and providing technical assistance to enhance compliance with fisheries management measures.
