Job Overview: The Corporate Partnerships Officer position is focused on supporting markets in the Asia Pacific Hub to prospect and secure new corporate partnerships, aligning with UNICEF's strategic objectives. The role involves building corporate partnerships alongside National Committees in countries such as Japan, South Korea, Australia, Hong Kong, and New Zealand. The officer will also work on enhancing skills and capacities in new business development within select markets, ensuring that UNICEF's funding and non-financial targets are met. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders to develop win/win propositions for potential corporate partners and to manage the full cycle of new corporate partnership development.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Support National Committees and Country Offices in managing the full cycle of new corporate partnership development, aiming to achieve funding and other targets set by UNICEF. This includes maintaining a global pipeline of prospects and converting them into signed partnerships.
Contribute to capacity building by coordinating elements necessary to enhance the new business development capacity and skills within corporate partnerships teams. This involves responding to inquiries, developing training materials, and sharing best practices.
Manage risk by coordinating the Corporate Partnership aspect of the Due Diligence process and liaising with risk management departments to identify and manage risks associated with new partnerships.
Develop partnership models, products, and materials that support a portfolio of partnerships, analyzing practices across markets to create effective partnership models.
Collaborate with the Corporate Partnerships Manager to contribute to the development, planning, and implementation of the Global New Business Corporate Partnership Strategy.
Required Qualifications: An advanced university degree in Business Administration, Marketing, International Relations, Communications, Fundraising, Social Sciences, or a relevant field is required. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of professional experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. A minimum of five years of progressively responsible professional work experience in fundraising, marketing, sponsorship, and corporate partnerships is required, with frontline corporate partnerships experience being an asset. Proven business acumen and commercial awareness are essential, along with experience in creating effective presentations and documents using Microsoft Office tools.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in relevant fields such as Business Administration, Marketing, International Relations, Communications, Fundraising, or Social Sciences. A first-level university degree with additional professional experience may also be considered.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of five years of progressively responsible professional work experience in areas such as fundraising, marketing, sponsorship, and corporate partnerships. Experience in securing high-value corporate partnerships, particularly with businesses in Japan or the Asia Pacific region, is highly desirable. Familiarity with developing countries and emergency contexts is an asset, as is previous experience with UNICEF or the UN.
Languages: Fluency in English, both written and oral, is mandatory. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) or local languages such as Japanese or Korean is considered an asset.
Additional Notes: The estimated duration of the contract is 364 days. The position is based in Tokyo, Japan, and reports to the Corporate Alliances Manager, Asia Pacific Hub Lead (New Business).
