Job Overview: The FAO Regular Volunteer Programme offers individuals the opportunity to contribute to the organization's mission by engaging in volunteer actions that support the UN Sustainable Development Goals and FAO's Strategic Framework. Volunteers will be assigned to fields relevant to FAO's mission and will report to an assigned supervisor. The role is designed to mobilize broad-based volunteer services from citizens of FAO member countries, aiming to create more efficient, inclusive, resilient, and sustainable agri-food systems. Volunteers will play a crucial role in addressing issues related to hunger and food security, contributing to better production, nutrition, environment, and overall quality of life.
Duties and Responsibilities: The specific duties and responsibilities of the volunteer will be outlined in the Terms of Reference (TOR) prepared by the hiring office. Generally, volunteers are expected to assist in various tasks that align with FAO's mission, which may include conducting research, supporting project implementation, engaging with local communities, and contributing to the development of strategies aimed at improving food security and nutrition. Volunteers will also be expected to participate in training and capacity-building activities, as well as collaborate with other team members and stakeholders to achieve common goals.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must have completed secondary school education and possess a working knowledge of at least one FAO language (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, or Spanish). Knowledge of a second FAO language is considered an asset. Additionally, candidates must be nationals of FAO member countries, be aged 18 or older, and demonstrate the ability to adapt to an international multicultural environment. Good communication skills are essential, as volunteers will be required to interact with diverse groups and stakeholders.
Educational Background: The minimum educational requirement for this position is the completion of secondary school education.
