Job Overview: The Coordinator of the Accommodation Center plays a crucial role in overseeing the operations of the center that provides accommodation and services for Unaccompanied Migrant Children (UMC). The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the center operates smoothly, maintaining the facilities, and providing essential services to the children. This includes managing the distribution of food, ensuring cleanliness, and supervising the participation of UMC in various programs. The coordinator will also be responsible for staff management, including scheduling, performance evaluations, and facilitating communication among team members. Additionally, the coordinator will oversee the financial and administrative aspects of the center, ensuring that all procurement and administrative procedures are followed correctly. The role requires a strong commitment to the welfare of UMC and the ability to work under pressure in a challenging environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversee the conditions of the assigned facilities, ensuring timely maintenance and repairs.
Ensure food quality and cleanliness of the premises in accordance with UMC safety and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security standards.
Supervise UMC participation in programs and organize monthly feedback meetings.
Ensure appropriate escort of UMC for personal status, healthcare, and educational visits.
Prepare and supervise the monthly staff shift schedule.
Coordinate staff duties and ensure effective communication and cooperation.
Conduct mandatory individual meetings with staff to evaluate performance.
Supervise the complaint mechanism within the center.
Manage financial and administrative operations, including procurement and distribution of items. 1
Coordinate administrative procedures for the reception, accommodation, and departure of UMC. 1
Supervise and monitor scientific work and be the point of reference for scientific staff. 1
Prepare service programs and activities in collaboration with scientific staff. 1
Ensure timely referrals of UMC to specialized external agencies when necessary. 1
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
University degree in Social Work or Humanitarian Sciences from an accredited institution.
At least two years of relevant work experience in child protection, vulnerability management, or related fields.
Experience in a multi-cultural environment and direct assistance to migrants/refugees is preferred.
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work under minimal supervision and manage stress effectively.
Commitment to humanitarian principles and ethical standards.
Educational Background: A university degree in Social Work or Humanitarian Sciences is required, with a master's degree in the same fields considered an advantage. Training in child protection, vulnerability management, or related subjects is also beneficial. Accredited universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.
Experience: A minimum of two years of relevant work experience is required, specifically in areas related to child protection, the protection of unaccompanied minors, or the integration of recognized beneficiaries of international protection. Experience in a multi-cultural environment and familiarity with direct assistance to migrants and/or refugees is essential.
Languages: Fluency in English and Greek (both written and oral) is required. Proficiency in additional languages such as French or Spanish is considered an advantage, as IOM's official languages include these. Language proficiency will be evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
Additional Notes: This position is subject to local recruitment, and only candidates with a valid residence and work permit for Greece will be considered. The appointment is contingent upon medical fitness certification and verification of residency and visa requirements. COVID-19 vaccination is mandatory for IOM personnel.
