Job Overview: As an Education Specialist, you will work under the guidance of the Chief of Education or Education Manager, supporting the development and preparation of education programs. Your role will involve managing, implementing, monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on the progress of education programs/projects within the country program. You will provide technical guidance and management support throughout the programming processes to facilitate the administration and achievement of results on education programs/projects aimed at improving learning outcomes and promoting equitable and inclusive education, particularly for marginalized, disadvantaged, and excluded children. Your contributions will align with UNICEF’s Strategic Plans, results-based management approaches, and accountability framework, ensuring that the educational needs of all children are met effectively.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Support the development and planning of education programs, ensuring alignment with UNICEF’s strategic objectives.
Manage the implementation of education programs, monitoring progress and ensuring delivery of results.
Build and maintain partnerships with stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and community organizations, to enhance program effectiveness.
Engage in innovation and knowledge management, sharing best practices and lessons learned to improve program delivery.
Conduct capacity building initiatives to strengthen the skills of local partners and stakeholders involved in education programs.
Evaluate program outcomes and impact, providing reports and recommendations for future programming.
Required Qualifications:
An advanced university degree in education, economics, psychology, sociology, or another relevant technical field is required.
A minimum of five years of professional experience in program planning, management, and/or research in education is required.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage complex situations and drive results.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in one of the following fields: education, economics, psychology, sociology, or another relevant technical field. This educational background is essential to ensure that the candidate has the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills to effectively contribute to the development and implementation of education programs.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of five years of professional experience in program planning, management, and/or research in the field of education. This experience should ideally include work in a developing country context, as well as relevant experience within a UN system agency or organization. The level of experience required indicates a need for a seasoned professional who can navigate the complexities of educational programming and contribute to impactful outcomes.
Languages: Fluency in French is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication in the duty station. Proficiency in English is considered a strong asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage with international stakeholders. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, Russian, Spanish) or a local language of the duty station is also regarded as an asset, further broadening the candidate's communication capabilities.
