Job Overview:
The position of Driver at IOM in Conakry is crucial for the effective functioning of the office. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of staff, documents, and logistical materials. This role is essential for maintaining the continuity of operations and enhancing the security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security of movements within the organization. The Driver will work under the technical supervision of the Senior Logistics Assistant and the overall supervision of the Supply Chain Officer. The primary expectation from this position is to provide reliable driving services while adhering to safety regulations and maintaining the assigned vehicle in optimal condition. The Driver will also be involved in coordinating transportation schedules and assisting with clerical duties when necessary, thereby contributing to the overall efficiency of the office.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Driver will perform a variety of duties including but not limited to: driving the assigned vehicle for the Chief of Mission, Head of Office, or Regional Director; organizing and monitoring transportation schedules for other drivers; managing the day-to-day maintenance of the vehicle to ensure it is roadworthy; arranging for minor repairs and keeping the vehicle clean; ensuring regular service intervals are met; maintaining records of spare parts and conducting monthly inventories; finding the safest and most direct routes for travel; ensuring vehicles are used only for official business; preparing daily log sheets and monthly reports on vehicle usage; maintaining confidentiality in discussions involving IOM officials; facilitating airport customs and immigration formalities; collecting and delivering mail and documents; assisting with clerical duties as needed; training other drivers; and performing additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a valid national driver’s license and demonstrate knowledge of driving rules and regulations. A high school degree or certificate with a minimum of 3 years of relevant working experience is required, or a Bachelor’s degree with at least 1 year of relevant experience from an accredited institution. Candidates should have skills in minor vehicle repairs and be proficient in using communication applications such as radio, email, and telephone. A service-oriented attitude characterized by politeness, discretion, and professionalism is essential, along with the ability to drive safely in both urban and rural environments and perform basic vehicle maintenance checks.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a high school degree or certificate, or a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. Accredited universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. The educational qualifications should be complemented by relevant work experience in driving and logistics.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 3 years of relevant working experience if they hold a high school diploma, or at least 1 year of relevant experience if they possess a Bachelor’s degree. Experience should include knowledge of driving various types of vehicles, adherence to local traffic rules, and familiarity with vehicle maintenance and minor repairs. Previous experience in a similar role within an international organization or NGO is advantageous.

Languages:
Fluency in French and English is required for all applicants, both oral and written. Proficiency in a national language is considered an advantage. The selection process will specifically evaluate language proficiency, which may include written and/or oral assessments. IOM’s official languages are English, French, and Spanish, and candidates should demonstrate their ability to communicate effectively in these languages.

This position is subject to local recruitment, meaning only candidates holding a valid residence and work permit for Guinea will be considered. The appointment will be contingent upon medical fitness certification, residency verification, and necessary government authorizations.
