Job Overview: The Young Associate position within the Health Division of the OECD offers a unique opportunity to engage in the organization's work on health systems performance assessment (HSPA). The selected candidate will contribute to the development of health system performance assessment frameworks for various countries, assisting in the identification and creation of new performance indicators. This role involves participating in the dissemination and publication of findings related to health systems, working alongside a diverse team of economists, physicians, and public health experts. The Young Associate will play a crucial role in supporting countries in their efforts to enhance health system performance, ensuring that health systems are resilient and capable of meeting the evolving needs of populations.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Young Associate will be responsible for several key tasks, including: 1. Contributing to the ongoing support provided by the OECD to countries in developing their HSPA frameworks. This includes organizing technical focus groups on health data and indicators across various HSPA domains, engaging in consultations with country experts on selected HSPA indicators, and assisting with the selection process of HSPA indicators tailored to specific countries. 2. Supporting the identification and development of new indicators to populate the OECD's renewed HSPA framework. This involves participating in the creation of indicator toolkits across the subdomains of the HSPA framework, ensuring alignment with existing OECD Health Statistics indicators, and collaborating with program managers and topical working parties. 3. Assisting with communication, drafting, and dissemination activities related to the OECD's work on health systems performance assessment, ensuring that findings and insights are effectively shared with stakeholders.
Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate for the Young Associate position should possess a strong academic background, particularly in fields related to economics, social policy, public health, or international relations. Candidates must have excellent written and oral communication skills, along with strong research and analytical abilities. Proficiency in statistical and quantitative skills is essential, and familiarity with statistical software such as STATA, R, SAS, or SPSS is considered an asset. Additionally, candidates should have completed coursework in at least two of the following areas: Health Economics, Health Policy, Public Health Statistics, or Data Science.
Educational Background: Candidates must hold an undergraduate degree in Economics, Social Policy, Public Policy, Public Health, International Relations, or a related discipline. It is important to note that applications from candidates who already hold or are enrolled in a Master’s, PhD, or equivalent degree will not be considered. The graduation date for eligible candidates should fall between 1 January 2024 and 1 September 2025.
Experience: The position is designed for early-career professionals, and as such, candidates are expected to have limited professional experience. However, any relevant internships, volunteer work, or academic projects related to health systems, public policy, or data analysis will be beneficial and may enhance a candidate's application.
Languages: While proficiency in English is mandatory, knowledge of additional languages, particularly French, is considered advantageous. Candidates should demonstrate strong communication skills in both written and spoken formats, as effective collaboration with international stakeholders is a key aspect of the role.
Additional Notes: The Young Associate position is a two-year fixed-term appointment, with a starting date in September 2025. The monthly base salary for this position is 3,780.34 EUR, which is exempt from French income tax, along with additional allowances based on eligibility.
