In July 2010, the United Nations General Assembly created UN Women, the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women. In doing so, UN Member States took an historic step in accelerating the Organization’s goals on gender equality and the empowerment of women. The creation of UN Women came about as part of the UN reform agenda, bringing together resources and mandates for greater impact. It merges and builds on the important work of four previously distinct parts of the UN system, which focused exclusively on gender equality and women’s empowerment: > Division for the Advancement of Women (DAW) > International Research and Training Institute for the Advancement of Women (INSTRAW) > Office of the Special Adviser on Gender Issues and Advancement of Women (OSAGI) > United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM) The main roles of UN Women are: > To support inter-governmental bodies, such as the Commission on the Status of Women, in their formulation of policies, global standards and norms. > To help Member States to implement these standards, standing ready to provide suitable technical and financial support to those countries that request it, and to forge effective partnerships with civil society. > To lead and coordinate the UN system’s work on gender equality as well as promote accountability, including through regular monitoring of system-wide progress.

Job Overview:
The position of Administrative and Financial Support is crucial for ensuring effective project management and administrative services within ONU Mujeres. The role involves providing timely and efficient administrative, financial, and programmatic support for the implementation of assigned projects and annual work plans. The individual will assist in project registration, budget reviews, fund monitoring, and maintaining institutional platforms for project information. Additionally, the role requires supporting counterparts with guidance and training on programmatic, administrative, and financial processes, as well as preparing periodic financial and programmatic reports. The position demands a proactive approach to managing project documentation and ensuring compliance with administrative protocols.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Key responsibilities include:
  • Providing support in managing the project portfolio, ensuring effective administrative and logistical services.
  • Offering timely administrative, financial, and programmatic support for project implementation.
  • Assisting in project registration, budget reviews, and monitoring available funds.
  • Maintaining institutional platforms for project information and reporting.
  • Guiding and training counterparts on programmatic and financial processes.
  • Preparing and consolidating periodic financial and programmatic reports.
  • Supporting procurement plans and facilitating administrative processes for hiring consultants.
  • Managing payment requests and budget resources.
  • Ensuring proper closure of financial and operational aspects of projects. 1
  • Coordinating logistics for meetings and events, and maintaining accurate records of project documentation.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of four years of relevant experience in administration and financial management within international cooperation programs. Additionally, at least two years of experience in supporting implementing partners in programs and projects is required. Experience in projects advancing women's human rights is desirable. Proficiency in office software (MS Word, Excel) is essential, along with fluency in Spanish and basic knowledge of English.

Educational Background:
A diversified education level is required, with a minimum of four years of university studies in fields such as Business Administration, Commerce, Human Resources, Finance, Social Sciences, International Relations, or related areas.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of four years of relevant experience in administration and financial management, with at least two years of experience in supporting implementing partners. Experience in projects related to women's rights is a plus, indicating a strong background in gender issues and human rights advocacy.

Languages:
Fluency in Spanish is mandatory, while basic knowledge of English is considered an asset. Proficiency in additional languages may enhance a candidate's application but is not required.
