The organization focuses on meeting vital needs such as access to water, food, and shelter. SI is particularly committed to combating diseases related to unsafe water, which is the leading cause of mortality worldwide. SI operates in 26 countries with a total workforce of 3,200 individuals, including expatriates, national staff, permanent headquarters employees, and a few volunteers. The mission in Niger was re-established in 2020 after previous interventions in response to severe flooding and the influx of Malian refugees. Currently, the Niger mission comprises a coordination base in Niamey and two operational bases in Gothèye and Banibangou, with a sub-base in Abala. The mission employs 60 staff members, including 8 expatriates, and is optimistic about future development prospects with the approach of several donors, including USAID, BHA, SDC, UNICEF, and ECHO. The organization is working to diversify its portfolio in Niger.

Job Overview:
The main objective of the position is to produce and synthesize reports, project proposals, and other communication documents under the supervision of the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director and in collaboration with the Accountability and Donor Development Officer. The RCO is responsible for ensuring compliance with donor regulations and contributing to the improvement of internal communication within the mission. Additionally, the RCO will be involved in designing a communication strategy for external audiences. The role requires maintaining high-quality written outputs in both French and English, participating in capacity-building efforts for field colleagues regarding report writing and project proposal expectations, and contributing to the development of internal and external communication materials. The RCO will also assist in compiling documentation for audits and will play a significant role in drafting project proposals for HIP ECHO 2025 and new BHA proposals during the first two to three months of employment.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Produce and synthesize high-quality reports and communication documents in French and English.
  • Ensure compliance with donor regulations and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with the Country Director and Accountability Officer to enhance internal communication.
  • Develop and implement a communication strategy for external audiences.
  • Participate in capacity-building initiatives for field staff on report writing and project proposal development.
  • Contribute to the creation of internal and external communication materials.
  • Assist in compiling documentation for audits and donor reporting.
  • Engage in the drafting of project proposals for upcoming funding opportunities.
  • Maintain awareness of donor strategies and requirements. 1
  • Support the mission's knowledge development regarding donor strategies and expectations.

Required Qualifications:
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in both French and English.
  • Knowledge of the rules and procedures of various institutional donors.
  • Excellent analytical and synthesis abilities.
  • Strong planning, organization, and coordination skills.
  • Familiarity with communication tools and a willingness to develop them.
  • High level of diplomacy and experience working in intercultural environments.
  • Willingness to travel to field locations as needed.

Educational Background:
A higher education degree in political science, development, international relations, or a related field is required for this position.

Experience:
A minimum of one year of experience in the humanitarian sector is preferred. Candidates with relevant experience in report writing, project proposal development, and donor compliance will be prioritized.

Languages:
Fluency in written and spoken French and English is mandatory. Additional languages may be considered an asset but are not required.

  • The position is based in Niamey, Niger, where living conditions are comfortable. The organization offers a competitive salary starting from EUR 1925 gross per month, plus a monthly per diem of USD 55
  • Solidarity International covers housing costs and travel expenses between the expatriate's home country and the duty station. During the mission, a work and leave alternation system is in place, allowing for 7 working days off every three months, with additional rest days accrued. Expatriates benefit from comprehensive health insurance covering medical expenses, including dental and optical care, as well as vaccination and malaria treatment costs. The guest house for expatriates is located within a short distance from the office, providing modern amenities and access to leisure activities in Niamey.
