Job Overview: The Project Manager position is crucial for the successful execution of projects within the UNOPS framework. The individual will be responsible for developing, completing, and updating implementation plans, ensuring that all project milestones are met within the established tolerances. The role requires integrating sustainability dimensions, including social inclusion, gender considerations, and environmental and economic aspects throughout the project lifecycle. The Project Manager will oversee the production of required results, manage resources effectively, and initiate corrective actions when necessary. This position demands a proactive approach to project management, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and procedures, and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Project Manager include:
Executing the project by developing and updating implementation plans, managing project milestones, and ensuring sustainability dimensions are integrated.
Complying with organizational policies and preparing necessary plans for project board approval.
Managing reporting obligations and drafting procurement requirements.
Preparing periodic reports on project status and finances, reviewing project performance criteria, and maintaining progress logs.
Developing stakeholder profiles and facilitating stakeholder engagement strategies.
Leading and motivating the project management team, ensuring fair performance evaluations, and recruiting team members as necessary.
Required Qualifications: The required qualifications for this position include a higher university degree (equivalent to a Master's or PhD) in Project Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, International Business, Economics, Architecture, Civil Engineering, Health, Biomedical Engineering, or other relevant fields. Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree with 9 additional years of relevant experience is acceptable. Candidates must have at least 7 years of experience in managing or coordinating medium to high complexity projects related to public infrastructure, civil engineering, or health in the public sector or international organizations.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a higher university degree (Master's or PhD) in relevant fields such as Project Management, Business Administration, or Engineering. A Bachelor's degree combined with extensive experience may also be considered. Academic qualifications must be supported by relevant diplomas or certificates submitted with the application.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 7 years of experience in project management or coordination, particularly in projects related to public infrastructure or health. Experience in public procurement processes, risk management for infrastructure projects, and managing multicultural teams is highly valued. A proven track record of successful project implementation is essential.
Languages: Fluent Spanish is required, along with intermediate English proficiency. Advanced English skills are desirable but not mandatory. Candidates are encouraged to demonstrate their language abilities in their application materials.
