Job Overview:
The Project Cashier plays a crucial role under the guidance of the Project Coordinator/Project Accountant. This position is responsible for managing financial transactions, including receiving payments, depositing cash and cheques, and making payments as directed. The Project Cashier is also tasked with journalizing and posting income and expenditures, managing various accounts, and assisting in the preparation of financial statements. This role requires a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, as the Project Cashier must ensure that all financial records are maintained correctly and submitted on time. The position is vital for the financial health of the organization and directly impacts the ability to serve children and families effectively.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Review payment requests for accuracy, completeness, compliance, and clarity on invoices.
  • Review disbursement requests for accuracy and documentation; effect payment to the correct vendor from the appropriate project.
  • Regularly review accounts to ensure balances are complete and accurate.
  • Record all project financial transactions into the SOS financial recording system, meeting submission dates and reporting requirements.
  • Ensure accuracy of supporting documentation for accounting records.
  • Organize and maintain the accounting filing system.
  • Follow up on status with the Social Security (Pension) and Tax departments, including depositing checks and registering new employees.
  • Prepare payroll and arrange timely payment of salaries.

  • Receive original transaction documents, check completeness and correctness, and pass them to the immediate supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
  • BA Degree in Accounting, administration" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Finance Administration, or related fields.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in an NGO setting.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong sensitivity in cross-cultural communications.
  • Ability to collate and analyze financial and other data clearly and coherently.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and work under pressure.
  • Ability to work with children or vulnerable people in a safe manner according to the SOS CVE Child Protection Policy.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and computer knowledge (MS-Word, MS-Excel).

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a BA Degree in Accounting, Finance Administration, or a related field. This educational background is essential for understanding the financial principles and practices necessary for the role of Project Cashier.

Experience:
