Job Overview:
The Protection from Violence (PfV) Team Leader (TL) in Kabul is responsible for overseeing the quality of all PfV activities in the field. This position involves direct supervision of PfV Officers and Technical Assistants, ensuring that all activities comply with the NRC Code of Conduct, national laws, and donor requirements. The PfV Team Leader plays a crucial role in monitoring project outputs, providing technical support, and building the capacity of staff. The overarching goal of this position is to protect the rights of displaced communities and seek durable solutions for their challenges. The TL will implement a plan of action for the delegated portfolio of Protection from Violence projects, ensuring that the projects target the most vulnerable populations and exploring new ways to assist them effectively.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Protection from Violence Team Leader include daily management and supervision of the PfV team to ensure quality delivery of activities. This involves assessing, coordinating, and building the capacity of team members. The TL will provide technical support and guidance, ensuring adherence to best practices and humanitarian principles. Responsibilities also include identifying technical gaps in activities and implementing solutions, contributing to project proposals, ensuring timely spending plans, and overseeing protection case management. The TL will develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders, including partner agencies and community leaders, and ensure that staff respect international standards in protection case management. Additionally, the TL will prepare periodic progress reports and promote the rights of internally displaced persons (IDPs) and returnees in line with the advocacy strategy.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in social sciences or a related field. Candidates must have at least 3 years of experience in project management and staff supervision, with a strong background in protection case management and community outreach. A good understanding of data protection standards and the rights and protection issues of target populations is essential. Experience working with returnee and IDP populations, particularly in protracted displacement contexts, is an advantage. Fluency in English, both written and verbal, is mandatory, along with proficiency in local languages.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in social sciences or a related field. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of protection issues and the needs of displaced communities. The degree should ideally provide a foundation in social work, human rights, or a related discipline that equips the candidate with the necessary skills to manage protection-related projects effectively.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in project management and supervision of staff within a humanitarian or recovery context. Experience in protection case management and conducting community outreach is essential. Candidates should also have a proven track record of working in complex and volatile environments, demonstrating the ability to manage resources effectively and achieve results under challenging conditions.

Languages:
Fluency in English, both written and verbal, is mandatory for this position. Additionally, proficiency in local languages is highly desirable, as it facilitates communication with the communities served and enhances the effectiveness of protection activities.

Additional Notes:
This position is offered on a full-time basis, with a monthly salary based on the NRC Afghanistan Salary Scale. NRC provides medical coverage for staff and up to four dependents, along with leave and holidays in accordance with Afghanistan Labor Law. Employees receive a monthly top-up credit card. The organization emphasizes safeguarding and expects all employees to treat everyone with respect and dignity, contribute to a safe environment, and report any incidents of exploitation or harassment.
