Job Overview:
The Community Engagement Assistant will work under the supervision of the CEA Program Coordinator and the Senior Program Assistant. The role involves conducting assessments through group consultations, key informant interviews, and focus group discussions as per the operational plans. The successful candidate will be responsible for transcribing these assessments, summarizing the findings, and conducting outreach meetings to inform community members about IOM programs and activities. This position requires a proactive approach to community engagement and the ability to work effectively in a team environment, ensuring that community feedback mechanisms are well communicated and understood.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct daily assessments through group consultations, key informant interviews, and focus group discussions, ensuring all activities are documented and transcribed accurately.
  • Verify and clear time sheets for all assessment activities with the CEA Program Manager.
  • Provide detailed summaries of consultation meetings, ensuring that all transcripts are completed and submitted for review.
  • Organize and conduct outreach meetings with community members to raise awareness about IOM programs and community feedback mechanisms.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance and meeting notes, ensuring compliance with templates provided by the CEA Program Manager.
  • Collaborate with team members and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and implementation of community engagement strategies.
  • Uphold confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions with community members and stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent certificate with a minimum of two years of relevant experience in community engagement or mobilization.
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting interviews and administering questionnaires with neutrality and professionalism.
  • Familiarity with community outreach and household assessments or surveys.
  • Previous experience working with UN agencies or NGOs is an advantage.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to work harmoniously in a diverse team environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with mobile data collection technologies such as KoBo or Open Data Kit (ODK) is a plus.

Educational Background:
A high school diploma or equivalent certification is required for this position. Additional training or certifications in community engagement, social work, or related fields would be beneficial but are not mandatory.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of two years of relevant experience in community engagement or mobilization. Experience in conducting community outreach, household assessments, or surveys is essential. Familiarity with the target locations, such as Mihtarlam District or Surkh Rod District, is preferred. Previous experience liaising with UN agencies or NGOs will be considered an advantage.

Languages:
Fluency in English (oral and written) is mandatory. A working knowledge of Pashto or Dari is required, and fluency in all national languages is highly advantageous.
