Job Overview: The position of Female Mobilisers Vaccinator Supervisors is crucial in the ongoing efforts to combat polio in Afghanistan, one of the last polio-endemic countries. The role involves engaging with communities to raise awareness about vaccine-preventable diseases and improving health education, particularly in areas with low awareness and cultural restrictions. The supervisors will oversee the field mobilizers (FMVs), ensuring they are effectively trained and supported in their roles. This position is vital for maintaining routine immunization and responding to referrals, as well as building trust between the health system and communities. The FMVs will conduct health education sessions and support vaccination efforts, particularly focusing on mothers, who are the primary caregivers for children. The role requires a proactive approach to community engagement and demand generation for vaccinations, especially in high-risk districts.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Female Mobilisers Vaccinator Supervisors will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including:
Field supervision of FMVs, monitoring their attendance and performance, and creating development plans.
Assisting in the development and implementation of a comprehensive training plan for FMVs.
Building partnerships with health facility managers to enhance collaboration.
Providing technical support to FMVs to ensure effective performance.
Managing cluster activities and monitoring results related to immunization efforts.
Planning, implementing, and monitoring immunization activities in relevant health facilities.
Ensuring that monthly health education and caregiver engagement plans are developed and executed at the health facility level.
Conducting performance monitoring visits to health facilities, focusing on health education sessions and supporting vaccinators.
Compiling and reviewing monthly health facility reports, which include data on health education sessions and immunization statistics. 1
Conducting monitoring visits to address coordination issues and provide on-site mentoring as needed. 1
Collecting and reporting rumors and misconceptions from the community to the DCO. 1
