Job Overview: The Finance Assistant UN Volunteer will play a crucial role in executing a variety of administrative and financial tasks within the finance unit of UNICEF. This position requires a thorough understanding of UNICEF's administrative and financial procedures, processes, and policies. The incumbent will be responsible for data gathering, input, manipulation, and report generation. The role aims to strengthen data collection to generate meaningful statistics that will track financial performance and enhance the quality and efficiency of financial processes. The Finance Assistant will work closely with various program sections to ensure that the results align with UNICEF's mission of promoting children's rights and welfare.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Finance Assistant will undertake a range of tasks under the direct supervision of the Finance Officer, including:
Supporting the Finance Assistant in updating and maintaining the schedule of direct payments made on cash handling long-term agreements (LTAs).
Assisting in reconciling and processing recalls of unspent funds from service providers, specifically Mobile Network Operators (MNOs).
Ensuring that all cash disbursements are properly documented and retired with supporting documentation.
Collaborating with the Finance Assistant to review and monitor paysheets for all direct payments.
Maintaining an organized online filing system for all retirements, including money paysheets and cash in transit acquittal sheets.
Updating the payment monitoring tool by gathering information to assess efficiency in payment processing.
Working closely with the Finance Officer to review payment forecasts on a weekly basis.
Required Qualifications: Candidates should possess a strong understanding of financial and administrative processes, with a focus on data management and reporting. Proficiency in using financial software and tools is essential. Attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment are crucial for success in this role. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate a commitment to UNICEF's mission and values, particularly in relation to children's rights and welfare.
Educational Background: A degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field is required.
