Job Overview: The Finance and Support Services Director plays a crucial role in the financial management of World Vision's operations in Burundi. This position requires a strategic leader who will oversee all aspects of financial management, ensuring that the organization meets its accountability and stewardship obligations. The Director will be a key member of the Senior Management/Leadership Team, contributing to the planning and budgeting processes, and providing accurate financial data and analysis to support the National Office's strategic and program objectives. The role also involves strengthening the capacity of finance staff, developing and implementing robust internal controls, managing enterprise risks, and ensuring the proper utilization and safeguarding of assets in accordance with World Vision's policies and procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide overall leadership and management support for financial operations in Burundi.
Act as a strategic partner within the Senior Management/Leadership Team, contributing to organizational planning and decision-making.
Ensure accountability and stewardship in financial management practices.
Coordinate planning and budgeting processes, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
Provide accurate financial data, analysis, and advice to support decision-making.
Develop and implement financial strategies that align with the National Office's goals.
Strengthen the capacity of finance staff through training and development initiatives.
Establish and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with policies.
Manage enterprise risk by identifying potential financial risks and implementing mitigation strategies. 1
Monitor budget and cash flow, ensuring effective financial management and reporting. 1
Collaborate with other departments to ensure integrated financial planning and reporting. 1
Represent the finance department in meetings and discussions with stakeholders.
Required Qualifications:
A Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
Professional qualifications such as ACCA, CIMA, CPA, or equivalent are mandatory.
A minimum of 10 years of experience in a finance position within a large to medium-sized NGO or development agency is essential.
At least 10 years of experience in finance and support services management roles is required.
Solid knowledge of accounting principles, financial systems, budget/cash flow monitoring, and internal accounting controls is necessary.
Proficiency in written and spoken English is required, with French being an added advantage.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. An MBA in Finance or an MSc in Finance/Accounting/Auditing is preferred. Additionally, professional qualifications such as ACCA, CIMA, CPA, or equivalent are required to ensure a strong foundation in financial management and accounting practices.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in finance roles, particularly within large to medium-sized NGOs or development agencies. Candidates should have substantial experience in finance and support services management, demonstrating a proven track record of effective financial oversight and strategic financial planning.
Languages: Proficiency in written and spoken English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of French is considered an added advantage, enhancing communication capabilities within the organization and with stakeholders.
