Job Overview:
The Programme Coordinator position is situated within the Department of Programmes, which serves as the central management and coordinating function for programme delivery and capacity development at IDLO. This role is crucial for the implementation of IDLO’s global programmes portfolio, particularly in the context of the 'Supporting Prison Reforms' project funded by the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL). The Programme Coordinator will work under the direct supervision of the Programme Lead, supporting the overall programme cycle, which includes formulation, implementation, and ensuring financial and quality compliance. The position requires a proactive approach to managing programme activities, ensuring alignment with IDLO processes and procedures, and fostering collaboration with various stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Programme Coordinator will be responsible for a range of duties including:
  • Supporting day-to-day programme implementation by ensuring project consistency with design and delivery, managing work planning, budget oversight, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Coordinating programme activities and managing the implementation of plans through standardized tools and frameworks.
  • Monitoring daily programme issues, making recommendations for course corrections, and drafting reports that highlight programme impacts.
  • Collaborating with the Finance Unit to build accurate financial forecasts and addressing budgetary concerns.
  • Ensuring compliance with institutional procedures and quality standards for programme deliverables.
  • Conducting research on relevant legal, political, and social developments that may impact the programmes.
  • Representing IDLO at programme events and liaising with donors, UN agencies, and other stakeholders to build relationships and identify new programme opportunities.
  • Designing implementation plans and contributing to the development of proposals aimed at expanding IDLO’s programme portfolio.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a graduate degree in Law, International Relations, Development Studies, or a related field. A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant professional experience is required, ideally within an international organization. Experience in rule of law and criminal justice programming is considered an advantage. Candidates should demonstrate familiarity with programme and data management methodologies, as well as results-based management principles. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and other ICT software.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a graduate degree in a relevant field such as Law, International Relations, or Development Studies. This educational foundation is critical for understanding the complexities of legal frameworks and institutional reforms necessary for the role.

Experience:
The position requires 3-5 years of relevant professional experience, ideally gained within an international organization. Candidates with experience in rule of law and criminal justice programming will have a competitive advantage. The role demands a proven ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure and deliver results within tight deadlines.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, enhancing communication with diverse stakeholders and contributing to the organization's global outreach.

Additional Notes:
This position is locally recruited and offers an Affiliate contract for 12 months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding availability.
