Duties and Responsibilities: The incumbent will perform a variety of duties under the direct supervision of the Head of Judicial Operations Unit, including:
Representing the Registry during court proceedings, ensuring that all actions are compliant with legal standards.
Drafting SOPs, legal filings, and memoranda pertinent to the Court Management Section's operations.
Coordinating the preparation and support for hearings, ensuring all necessary documentation and evidence are in order.
Handling evidence in accordance with applicable standards, maintaining the integrity of the judicial process.
Closely following up on assigned cases to provide timely and accurate advice, ensuring the proper distribution of filings.
Managing judicial records and information, both in original and electronic formats, as the designated custodian of the record of proceedings.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in law, preferably in criminal or international law, or in legal studies or social sciences. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience is acceptable. A minimum of two years of professional experience in a court environment, particularly in criminal cases at either a national or international level, is required. Candidates should demonstrate knowledge of international legal instruments relevant to the ICC, courtroom procedures, and evidence handling. Excellent drafting skills for legal texts and the ability to analyze and interpret legal issues are essential. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, along with proficiency in relevant software applications, are also required.
Educational Background: An advanced university degree in law is required, with a preference for specializations in criminal or international law. A first-level university degree is acceptable if accompanied by two additional years of relevant experience. This educational background ensures that candidates have a solid foundation in legal principles and practices necessary for the role.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of two years of professional experience in a court environment, specifically dealing with criminal cases. If the candidate holds a first-level university degree, four years of experience is required. This experience should encompass both national and international legal contexts, providing the candidate with a comprehensive understanding of courtroom dynamics and judicial processes.
Languages: Proficiency in one of the working languages of the Court, either English or French, is mandatory. A good working knowledge of the other language is essential. Additional Notes: The position is a fixed-term appointment with a salary of €72,066.00 per annum. The contract duration is to be determined, and a roster of suitable candidates will be established for future appointments.
