Job Overview:
The Country Technical Manager for Honduras will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of the anticipated CDC PEPFAR HIV Prevention, Care, and Treatment Program in Central America. This five-year program, with a budget of $85 million, aims to enhance the capacity of Honduras and other Central American countries to address gaps in HIV prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. The manager will design and implement strategic activities to achieve the program's objectives, which include increasing HIV case finding, improving treatment outcomes, and enhancing the skills of healthcare workers involved in HIV services. The role requires a passionate and dedicated professional to help build a world where crises give way to resilience and all people thrive.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Country Technical Manager will lead the implementation and management of comprehensive HIV prevention, testing, care, and treatment interventions. Responsibilities include contextualizing technical approaches for scaling HIV testing and prevention services, coordinating with regional leads for local implementation of testing and treatment methods, ensuring programming links at-risk populations to prevention services, and fostering an enabling environment for service provision. The manager will also oversee training and mentorship of front-line providers, coordinate with various stakeholders, and support efforts to prevent and treat infectious diseases impacting HIV populations. The role requires a strong focus on achieving PEPFAR indicators and improving public health responses to HIV transmission.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree or higher in Public Health, Social and/or Behavioral Sciences, or a related field, with a focus on community-level health promotion. A minimum of six years of professional experience is required, including three years in implementing US government-funded HIV programs, preferably with PEPFAR experience. Candidates should demonstrate knowledge of combination HIV prevention and care interventions, experience in capacity building for healthcare providers, and effective communication skills. Substantial experience in Honduras and a passion for the mission of Global Communities are essential.
Educational Background:
A Master’s degree or higher in a relevant field such as Public Health or Social Sciences is required. Significant practical experience may be considered in lieu of formal education. The focus should be on community health promotion and education.
Experience:
The position requires at least six years of professional experience, with a minimum of three years specifically in implementing HIV testing, care, and treatment programs funded by the US government. Experience in a supervisory role and substantial experience working in Honduras are also necessary.
Languages:
Full Professional Proficiency in spoken and written Spanish is mandatory. Knowledge of additional languages may be beneficial but is not specified as a requirement.
