Job Overview: The International Reporting and Communication Specialist will play a crucial role in supporting the UNDP project aimed at strengthening the operational capacity of the Ports of Aden and Mukalla. This position involves monitoring and reporting on project outcomes, ensuring data quality, and providing insights for program recommendations. The specialist will also be responsible for drafting reports, analyzing data, and collaborating with various stakeholders to enhance communication and visibility of the project. The role requires a proactive approach to knowledge management, facilitating learning agendas, and promoting effective collaboration among stakeholders. Additionally, the specialist will engage in activities that promote volunteerism and community engagement, aligning with the UN Volunteers programme mandate.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the International Reporting and Communication Specialist include:
Monitoring and Reporting: - Design and implement data collection and reporting protocols linked to project outcome indicators. - Support monitoring data quality and track the progress of activities. - Conduct field visits to ensure data quality and verify reported data accuracy. - Draft reports and analyze data against indicators in the logical framework and AWP. - Interpret implementation outcomes and provide program recommendations. - Draft quarterly and annual reports in compliance with project AWP and M&E frameworks. - Assist in monitoring milestones and key accomplishments of the program. - Organize special events such as donor engagement and joint monitoring.
Visibility and Communications: - Collaborate with UNDP units and government offices to ensure project-related communications materials are accurate. - Work with the UNDP-TL Communication Unit to develop and disseminate media-friendly communications products. - Write content for print and web, including the UNDP website, blogs, brochures, and newsletters.
Knowledge Management: - Maintain constant communication with the Project Manager and project management team. - Facilitate learning agendas and knowledge management activities. - Support the preparation of publications and document case stories for sharing. - Generate knowledge management products on M&E, such as handbooks and toolkits. - Engage with counterparts and communities of practice to disseminate learnings and acquire timely information.
Required Qualifications: The position requires a strong background in monitoring and evaluation, data analysis, and communication. Candidates should possess excellent writing skills, with the ability to draft high-quality reports and communications materials. Familiarity with project management and knowledge management practices is essential. The ideal candidate should demonstrate strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders. Proficiency in using data collection and reporting tools is also required, along with a commitment to promoting volunteerism and community engagement.
Educational Background: Candidates should have a degree in a relevant field such as social sciences, international development, communications, or a related discipline. A master's degree is preferred but not mandatory. Additional training or certifications in monitoring and evaluation, project management, or communication would be advantageous.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in monitoring and evaluation, reporting, and communication within the context of international development projects. Experience working with UN agencies or similar organizations is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate a proven track record of successfully managing reporting processes and producing high-quality communications materials.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Arabic is highly desirable, as it will facilitate communication with local stakeholders and enhance the effectiveness of the role. Additional languages may be considered an asset, depending on the project context.
Additional Notes: This position is a full-time role based in Sanaa, Yemen. The contract duration is typically project-based, with the possibility of extension depending on project needs and funding availability.
