Job Overview: The Data Improvement Coordinator will work within the WHO's country office in the Central African Republic, specifically under the Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) and vaccination initiatives. The primary objective of this role is to enhance data management and utilization for vaccination programs, ensuring that health equity and social determinants of health are addressed. The coordinator will be responsible for promoting and supporting data improvement activities, collaborating with various stakeholders, and contributing to resource mobilization efforts. This position requires regular interaction with internal and external partners to facilitate the development, implementation, and evaluation of strategic data improvement plans aligned with national health objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Data Improvement Coordinator will have a range of responsibilities, including but not limited to: coordinating with internal and external partners to develop and implement a strategic data improvement plan for vaccination; ensuring alignment with national health information system strengthening plans; supporting the development of joint strategic investments for data enhancement; identifying resources throughout the planning and implementation phases; ensuring compliance with strategic recommendations; facilitating capacity building for national stakeholders on WHO tools related to data strengthening; promoting data utilization for decision-making to improve vaccination coverage and equity; maintaining effective communication among partners during the development and evaluation of the data improvement plan; providing technical support throughout all phases of planning and implementation; developing monitoring frameworks for data improvement activities; facilitating the mobilization of technical assistance and financial resources; responding promptly to inquiries from partners; and performing other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree in computer science, database management, or biostatistics, with professional training or work experience in data analysis. Desirable qualifications include training or knowledge in public health data analysis, health information system review, data quality assessment, and familiarity with data analysis software. Candidates should demonstrate excellent organizational, technical, and planning skills, with the ability to multitask and coordinate efforts among partners. Proficiency in data analysis and quality assessment is essential, along with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate technical issues effectively.
Educational Background: A university degree in a relevant field such as computer science, database management, or biostatistics is essential. Additional training or knowledge in public health data analysis, health information systems, and data quality assessment is desirable. Candidates should have experience with data analysis software and tools.
Experience: Candidates should have at least five years of experience in data analysis, quality assessment, and the development and monitoring of action plans in field operations, government institutions, or international organizations. Desirable experience includes working with epidemiological databases and understanding WHO/AFRO data quality strategies and procedures. A solid understanding of health data and health information systems is also required.
Languages: A strong command of French is mandatory for this position. A practical knowledge of English is considered an advantage, enhancing communication with international partners and stakeholders.
