Job Overview: The Chargé/e de Communication will play a crucial role in enhancing the visibility and impact of the Peacebuilding Fund (PBF) in Mauritania. This position is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive communication strategy that promotes the PBF's portfolio and its contributions to peace consolidation in the country. The incumbent will work closely with various stakeholders, including the BCR team, the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, and other UN agencies, to ensure systematic coverage of PBF's work and achievements. The role involves creating technical and non-technical articles, press releases, success stories, and responding to media inquiries. The Chargé/e de Communication will also manage social media platforms and ensure that the PBF's website content is current and aligned with branding strategies.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop a communication strategy to promote the peace consolidation portfolio in Mauritania.
Monitor the implementation of the communication strategy and create communication tools (both traditional and digital).
Oversee the creation of relevant communication content to highlight the activities of the PBF Secretariat and joint PBF projects, including success stories, brochures, press releases, reports, and videos for various media outlets.
Create, manage, and utilize social media for the PBF project (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, etc.).
Create and schedule posts, engage with followers, and track trends.
Supervise the PBF project website content, ensuring it is up-to-date and adheres to branding and communication strategies.
Collaborate with communication officers from other agencies to enhance the visibility of peace consolidation projects in Mauritania and propose strategic partnerships at national and international levels.
Participate in organizing events for the PBF Secretariat or portfolio projects.
Suggest actions to animate and update social media daily, in line with UN policies. 1
Capture photos and create videos during events and activities organized by the PBF Secretariat. 1
Serve as the communication focal point within the UN system. 1
Support optimal outreach and dissemination to target audiences through appropriate media channels and platforms, including social media. 1
Perform any other communication-related tasks as needed.
Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate should possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with a proven ability to create engaging content for various audiences. Experience in developing communication strategies and managing social media platforms is essential. The candidate should also demonstrate a solid understanding of the UN system and its operations, particularly in the context of peacebuilding and development. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders are crucial for success in this role.
Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in communication, public relations, journalism, or a related field is required. A master's degree in a relevant discipline is preferred and may be considered an asset for the position.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in communication, public relations, or a related field, preferably within an international organization or the UN system. Experience in peacebuilding or development communication is highly desirable.
Languages: Fluency in French is mandatory, as the position requires communication in a Francophone context. Proficiency in English is considered an asset, and knowledge of additional languages relevant to the region would be beneficial.
