Job Overview:
The Area Coordinator is tasked with the overall management and strategic direction of COOPI's programs in North Darfur, ensuring the effective implementation of assigned projects. This role is crucial for maintaining good representation of the organization among various stakeholders and ensuring transparent management of programs, finances, and human resources. The Area Coordinator is expected to foster a learning environment for staff and the organization, ensuring compliance with safety and operational procedures. Duties and Responsibilities:
The Area Coordinator will have several key responsibilities, including:
  • Programme Management: Overseeing the design, implementation, and monitoring of programming in line with Common Humanitarian Standards (CHS) and COOPI policies. This includes regular field visits for monitoring and evaluation, seeking funding opportunities, and providing strategic oversight to program teams.
  • Coordination of Field Operations: Participating in the work of supervised staff, providing training and support, and assisting Project Managers with implementation challenges. Ensuring compliance with COOPI procedures in logistics, finance, and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security.
  • Staff Management: Acting as the human resources focal point for program and support staff, supervising and evaluating staff performance, and organizing training sessions.
  • Security Management: Implementing and managing security plans, coordinating information collection, and participating in security meetings.
  • Liaison and Networking: Coordinating with government entities for registration and permits, representing COOPI in various forums, and participating in coordination meetings.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree in social sciences, business, or technical sciences. A minimum of five years of relevant working experience is required, with at least three years in a similar position within international relief and development. Proven experience in managing European funding and effective communication, negotiation, and organizational skills are essential. Candidates should also have experience working in conflict-prone environments and liaising with governmental and non-governmental organizations. Fluency in English and computer literacy are mandatory, along with the ability to work in stressful environments and manage staff effectively.
