Job Overview:
The Driver position at DRC involves the safe and reliable transportation of DRC staff and assets. The role requires maintaining the safety and operational condition of DRC vehicles. The driver is expected to ensure that all transportation activities are conducted in accordance with DRC's policies and procedures, prioritizing the safety of passengers and cargo. The driver will also be responsible for the upkeep of the vehicle, ensuring it is clean and well-maintained, and will perform routine checks to confirm that the vehicle is roadworthy. This position is crucial for facilitating the movement of personnel and supplies, thereby supporting DRC's humanitarian efforts in the region.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Driver will be responsible for the following duties: transporting authorized DRC personnel and cargo to designated locations; collecting materials from projects and suppliers; ensuring the safety of passengers and their belongings during transit; assisting passengers with loading and unloading their belongings; maintaining a vehicle logbook and obtaining passenger signatures for each trip; ensuring the vehicle has a minimum of half a tank of fuel and refueling as necessary; keeping the vehicle clean and presentable at all times; conducting daily checks on the vehicle's condition, including engine oil, brake oil, tire pressure, and other essential fluids; ensuring all vehicle equipment and tools are clean and properly stored; conducting physical inspections of rented vehicles as requested by the fleet manager; assisting with procurement and supply requisitions as directed by the supervisor; and adhering to national driving laws and DRC's Code of Conduct.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess proven driving experience in a similar role, knowledge of the local area, and technical expertise in basic vehicle repairs. Punctuality and adherence to rules and procedures are essential. The candidate must maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding work-related information and data. Knowledge of logistics and procurement processes is also required. Fluency in the local language is mandatory, and proficiency in English is considered an asset.

Educational Background:
Applicants must hold a valid driving license, and a truck or bus driving license is required if relevant to the position.

Experience:
Candidates should have a proven track record of driving experience in a similar position, demonstrating their ability to navigate local roads and adhere to safety regulations. Experience in a humanitarian or NGO context is preferred but not mandatory.

Languages:
Fluency in Arabic is mandatory, while proficiency in English is considered advantageous for effective communication within the organization and with international staff.

Additional Notes:
This position is a national contract with a duration of 12 months. The salary range starts from USD 486.00 per month. The duty station is Port Sudan, specifically at the Country Office. The start date for this position is as soon as possible.
