Job Overview:
The AWS Platform Engineer role at the American Heart Association is pivotal in designing, implementing, and maintaining cloud infrastructure solutions on Amazon Web Services (AWS). This position requires a collaborative approach, working closely with development and operations teams to ensure that cloud-based applications are scalable, reliable, and secure. Duties and Responsibilities:

• Design and implement scalable and reliable cloud infrastructure on AWS.
• Ensure compliance with PCI, HIPAA, and other regulatory frameworks while implementing AWS solutions, focusing on security and data protection.
• Collaborate with development and operations teams for seamless application integration and deployment.
• Automate deployment processes using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as CloudFormation and Terraform.
• Monitor and optimize the performance of AWS resources and applications to ensure high availability.
• Implement and manage security best practices for cloud environments to safeguard data.
• Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure issues promptly to minimize downtime.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation for cloud architecture, configurations, and processes.
• Evaluate and recommend new AWS services and technologies to enhance operational capabilities. 1

Required Qualifications:

• Education: A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Certifications: AWS certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, or AWS Certified Developer are highly desirable.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in scripting and programming languages such as Python and Bash is essential. A strong understanding of AWS services and architecture is required, along with experience using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like CloudFormation and Terraform. Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes is also beneficial.
