Job Overview:
The Training Officer will be responsible for supporting the effective implementation of training courses and learning solutions at IIEP-UNESCO Dakar. This role involves managing the entire learning cycle, which includes analysis, design, development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of training programs. The successful candidate will collaborate with program coordinators and content experts to create engaging training courses tailored to the needs of participants. The position requires a proactive approach to facilitate participant learning, coordinate training activities, and ensure the quality of educational offerings. The Training Officer will also manage the e-learning platform (Moodle) and contribute to the development of the IIEP Global Learning Academy, ensuring that the credentialing system is effectively articulated across various courses. Additionally, the role involves staying updated on innovations in learning design and proposing improvements to enhance teaching and learning methodologies.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Training Officer will support IIEP-UNESCO Dakar’s training team in managing the learning cycle for all training courses and projects. Key responsibilities include:
  • Collaborating with program coordinators and content experts to design engaging training courses based on participant profiles and learning needs.
  • Selecting effective pedagogy and assessment strategies to meet course objectives.
  • Developing training materials and resources, including multimedia content.
  • Coordinating with course teams to ensure successful implementation of training activities.
  • Facilitating participant selection and supporting the delivery of training courses.
  • Monitoring participant engagement and learning achievements.
  • Implementing evaluation tools to assess training effectiveness and suggesting improvements based on feedback.
  • Managing the Moodle e-learning platform for course delivery.
  • Contributing to research and development activities organized by the institute. 1
  • Participating in the coordination of training activities across IIEP-UNESCO offices.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in learning design and development, education & technology, or adult learning. A minimum of two years of relevant professional experience in learning design for online or hybrid courses is required, with at least one year of experience at the international level. Candidates should have demonstrated experience in the design, development, delivery, and evaluation of training for adults, as well as experience managing the Moodle learning management system. Strong knowledge of adult education theories and learning design approaches in developing countries is essential, along with the ability to develop training materials and coordinate training courses effectively.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in fields related to learning design, education technology, or adult learning is required for this position. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of adult education and the design of effective training programs.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of two years of relevant professional experience in learning design, particularly for online or hybrid courses. Candidates should ideally have at least one year of experience working at the international level, which will provide them with a broader perspective on educational challenges and solutions. Experience in the design, development, delivery, and evaluation of training for adults is essential, as is familiarity with managing learning management systems, specifically Moodle.

Languages:
Fluency in French is mandatory, along with very good knowledge of English.
