Established to address urgent humanitarian needs, Relief International operates in 14 countries across Africa, Asia, and the Middle East, focusing on Health and Nutrition, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), Education, and Livelihoods programming. The organization aims to create a foundation for community resilience, ensuring that interventions not only address immediate needs but also contribute to long-term structural improvements in the communities it serves.

Job Overview:
The Retainer Pharmacist position at Relief International involves providing professional pharmacy support within the framework of the ECHO-funded Project LIFE, which aims to deliver life-saving health support and integrated psychological assistance in crisis-affected communities in the Special Geographic Area of BARMM. The role requires the pharmacist to ensure compliance with Philippine pharmacy and FDA regulations, oversee the management and dispensing of medicines, and provide technical support to the organization. The pharmacist will be responsible for maintaining pharmaceutical inventory, conducting stockroom monitoring, and advising on the handling of medicines, thereby playing a crucial role in the health services provided by RI in the region.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Retainer Pharmacist will have several key responsibilities, including:
  • Providing professional support for RI's FDA Special Permit/authorization application and related pharmacy requirements.
  • Ensuring compliance with valid prescriptions and applicable regulations during the dispensing of prescription medicines.
  • Monitoring pharmaceutical inventory, including expiry dates and storage conditions, and maintaining accurate stock records.
  • Conducting at least two monthly stockroom monitoring visits and supporting periodic stock reconciliation.
  • Advising on the appropriate handling of expired, damaged, or compromised medicines.
  • Offering technical advice on medicine storage, dispensing, documentation, and overall pharmaceutical management.
  • Supporting the preparation, dispensing, and reconciliation of medicines for Mobile Health Team (MHT) deployments as needed.
  • Reporting any significant medicine safety, inventory, or regulatory concerns immediately to the appropriate personnel.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be duly licensed and registered pharmacists in the Philippines, possessing a valid PRC ID. Relevant experience in dispensing and managing pharmaceutical inventory is essential. Knowledge of Philippine pharmacy regulations and FDA requirements is crucial for this role. Experience in public health, humanitarian settings, community health, or medical outreach is considered an advantage. The ideal candidate should demonstrate good professional judgment, integrity, and confidentiality, and must be available to provide field support when required.

Educational Background:
The position requires candidates to have a degree in Pharmacy from an accredited institution, along with the necessary licensure to practice as a pharmacist in the Philippines. Continuous professional development and familiarity with current pharmacy practices and regulations are also expected.

Experience:
Candidates should have relevant experience in the field of pharmacy, particularly in dispensing medications and managing pharmaceutical inventories. Experience in public health or humanitarian settings is highly desirable, as it aligns with the organization's mission to provide health services in crisis-affected areas.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization and for documentation purposes. Knowledge of Filipino or other local dialects may be advantageous for effective communication with community members.

Additional Notes:
The retainer contract is for a duration of six months, from October 26, 2026, to April 25, 2027, under a part-time arrangement. The pharmacist will be compensated with a monthly retainer fee, which will be subject to applicable taxes. Payment will be made monthly upon submission of required billing documents and confirmation of services rendered. Additional field assignments or support activities outside the agreed retainer scope may be separately negotiated and will require prior approval from Relief International. The organization emphasizes safeguarding and expects all staff to uphold its values and code of conduct.
