Job Overview: The Programme Analyst, FP/RHCS is a pivotal role within UNFPA, contributing to the effective management and delivery of programs aimed at enhancing reproductive health commodity security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security. This position involves working closely with the Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) unit to support national health supply-chain initiatives and ensure the availability of essential reproductive health commodities. The Programme Analyst will engage in various activities, including forecasting and quantification, supply planning, logistics management, and monitoring of health commodities. The role requires a strong analytical approach to identify supply risks and ensure the successful implementation of UNFPA-supported programs, thereby contributing to national efforts in improving maternal health and family planning services.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Programme Analyst, FP/RHCS will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including:
General Programming: Conducting analysis and research on the political, social, and economic landscape of Malawi to inform UN programming processes related to FP/RHCS. Documenting knowledge about trends and issues in reproductive health and sharing insights for strategic planning.
Technical Expertise/Management: Analyzing policies and developments affecting RHCS and preparing technical inputs for program development. Supporting the implementation and monitoring of condom programming and contributing to advocacy efforts for RHCS.
Advocacy and Resource Mobilization: Assisting in advocacy and resource mobilization efforts by preparing documentation and participating in donor meetings. Building partnerships for advocacy within the broader sexual and reproductive health agenda.
General Support: Providing support to team members and carrying out additional duties as required by UNFPA leadership. The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including government ministries, implementing partners, and civil society organizations, to ensure effective program delivery and resource management.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in supply-chain management, logistics, pharmacy, public health, or a related field. Alternatively, an advanced degree in another relevant area may be accepted if combined with specialized training and professional experience in health supply-chain management or reproductive health commodity security. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding of public-sector health supply chains and the roles of various stakeholders in the health system.
Educational Background: An advanced university degree in supply-chain management, logistics, pharmacy, pharmaceutical sciences, public health, health systems management, health economics, or a closely related field is required. Candidates with an advanced degree in another relevant field may be considered if they have recognized specialized training and relevant professional experience in health supply-chain management or reproductive health commodity security.
Experience: A minimum of two years of progressively responsible professional experience in reproductive health commodity security, health supply-chain management, or public health logistics is required. Candidates should have practical experience in areas such as forecasting, supply planning, logistics information systems, and inventory management. Experience working with the Ministry of Health and local government is desirable, along with familiarity with UN systems and operations.
Languages: Fluency in English, both verbal and written, is mandatory. Knowledge of other official UN languages is considered an asset and is desirable for this position.
