Job Overview: The Regional Industry Manager for the Financial Institutions Group (FIG) will play a crucial role in leading business development, transaction processing, and portfolio management for FIG investment activities in Bangladesh, Nepal, and Sri Lanka. This position is based in Dhaka, Bangladesh, and reports to the Regional Industry Director, FIG Asia Pacific. The manager will be responsible for developing strategies for FIG in the region, coordinating with various teams within IFC and the World Bank Group, and ensuring high levels of client satisfaction while meeting profitability targets. The role requires a deep understanding of sector trends and the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams to convert leads into successful deals. The manager will also actively manage the profitability of the FIG business and ensure compliance with IFC's financial and operational standards.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Regional Industry Manager include: developing the strategy for IFC’s FIG in the region, coordinating with Upstream and Advisory services teams, building and maintaining high-level client relationships, leading business development efforts, managing profitability, providing operational guidance as a Transaction Manager, exploring joint ventures with other departments, fostering relationships with WBG counterparts, ensuring portfolio experience informs strategy, reporting on portfolio profitability and development impact, monitoring risk in the debt portfolio, managing the equity portfolio, supervising compliance with IFC requirements, leading and managing the unit, mentoring FIG staff, and contributing to the regional leadership team.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master's degree in business, finance, or a related field, along with a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience in the financial sector. A strong sense of service to clients and a proven track record in developing client relationships and processing quality investments are essential. Candidates should have deep knowledge of capital markets, experience sourcing and structuring complex investment transactions, and sound knowledge of portfolio management. The ability to work in a matrix environment, manage and develop teams, and possess strong communication skills are also required. Candidates should meet the World Bank Group-wide managerial competencies and demonstrate the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and cultures.
Educational Background: A Master's degree in business, finance, or an equivalent qualification is required for this position. This educational background is essential to ensure that the candidate has the necessary theoretical knowledge and analytical skills to perform effectively in a complex financial environment.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience in the financial sector. Candidates should have a strong background in developing client relationships, processing investments, and managing portfolios.
