Job Overview:
The Luxembourgish National Graduate Trainee (NGT) position at ESA offers recent Master’s graduates a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in the field of Technology R&D Management and Strategic Road Mapping. This role is designed for individuals who are eager to contribute to the development and maintenance of ESA's operations ground segment. As a trainee, you will be integrated into the Ground Systems Engineering and Innovation Department, where you will work closely with experienced professionals and gain insights into the strategic research and development activities that align with ESA's Vision 204
  • The position emphasizes hands-on experience, allowing you to engage with cutting-edge technologies and assess their implications for future space operations. You will be involved in supporting the harmonization of strategic roadmaps, managing R&D tools, and analyzing trending technologies, thereby playing a crucial role in the advancement of ESA's objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
As a Luxembourgish National Graduate Trainee, your responsibilities will include: supporting the harmonization of various strategic roadmaps; assisting in the management of roadmap activities through the assessment and implementation of R&D management tools; evaluating the strategic dimensions of roadmap activities at both Directorate and ESA levels; identifying cross-domain R&D topics and facilitating their integration into the roadmaps; developing and managing key performance indicators (KPIs) for R&D roadmaps; assessing the application of AI solutions to enhance roadmap management; and critically analyzing emerging technologies and their potential applications within the Department's domains. You will report directly to the OPS Lead Ground System Engineering Architect and collaborate with various teams to foster innovation and efficiency in ESA's operations.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrating the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment. A solid interest in new technologies and a passion for space are essential. Previous experience in international teams is advantageous, as is familiarity with model-based systems engineering tools or PowerBI. The selection process will also evaluate your motivation and career aspirations, ensuring alignment with ESA's mission and values.

Educational Background:
Applicants should have recently completed or be in the final year of their master’s degree in computer science, systems engineering, or a related field.
