Job Overview: The Graphic Designer and Digital Communication Consultant will play a crucial role in supporting the Regional Communications Unit and the West and Central Africa Regional Office (WCARO) Directorate. This position involves designing, producing, and harmonizing high-quality visual communication materials that align with UNFPA's branding standards. The consultant will collaborate closely with the Communications and Programme teams to ensure that all visual outputs effectively communicate UNFPA's mission and objectives. The role requires a strong understanding of visual storytelling and the ability to transform complex data into engaging graphics. The consultant will also be responsible for creating digital assets for social media and ensuring compliance with branding guidelines, thereby enhancing UNFPA's visibility and impact in the region.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant's duties will include:
Visual Design and Layout: Designing and formatting thematic reports, annual reports, policy briefs, advocacy documents, and brochures for WCARO.
Infographic Creation: Transforming complex demographic, health, and gender data into clear and engaging infographics and visual charts.
Digital Communication: Creating web banners, digital flyers, and multimedia graphics for various social media platforms, including LinkedIn, Facebook, X, YouTube, and Instagram.
Event Branding: Developing visual identities for regional conferences and high-level events, including designing event materials such as roll-up banners, stage backdrops, and participant badges.
Branding Compliance: Ensuring all graphic products comply with UNFPA's visual branding standards and maintaining an organized archive of design files.
Technical Support: Providing design guidance to WCARO Country Offices and contributing to UI/UX design for digital platforms.
Additional Duties: Performing any other related graphic design tasks as assigned by the supervisor and WCARO leadership.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a strong background in graphic design and visual communication. Required qualifications include:
Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro, After Effects) and Canva Pro.
Proven experience in designing visual assets and a track record of professional performance.
Strong understanding of UN/UNFPA visual identity guidelines and the ability to work under tight deadlines while delivering high-quality outputs.
Excellent visual storytelling skills, creative flair, and acute attention to detail are essential.
Educational Background: The educational requirements for this position include:
Completed secondary level education (Baccalauréat) is required.
A university degree or Master's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or marketing" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Digital Marketing is highly desirable, providing a strong foundation for the technical and creative aspects of the role.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of five (5) years of relevant professional experience in graphic design, UI/UX design, and visual communication. This experience should demonstrate a strong ability to create high-quality visual materials and an understanding of the principles of effective communication in a digital context.
Languages: Fluency in spoken and written French is required for this position, as it is essential for communication within the organization and with stakeholders. A working knowledge of English is desirable, as it may facilitate collaboration with international teams and enhance the consultant's ability to engage with diverse audiences.
Additional Notes: The position is expected to last for a duration of 3.5 months, primarily based on-site at the UNFPA WCARO premises in Dakar, Senegal, with potential hybrid work arrangements. UNFPA will provide the consultant with necessary resources, including a computer/laptop, access to corporate design tools, and dedicated office space. Travel may be required for events organized outside of Dakar, where communication support will be needed.
