Job Overview: The IT Technical Support Consultant position is crucial for the Information Systems & Digital Innovation Section (ISD) within the Office of the Secretary (SEC) at the IDB. This role involves providing essential technical support during the Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors, ensuring that all necessary equipment and systems are operational and effectively managed. The consultant will be responsible for preparing, configuring, and installing technical equipment, maintaining inventory databases, troubleshooting hardware issues, and offering user support to SEC personnel. The position requires a proactive and detail-oriented individual who can handle multiple tasks efficiently and contribute to the successful execution of the Annual Meeting and other related events.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will be tasked with several key responsibilities, including but not limited to: placing orders and monitoring the purchase of equipment and supplies for the Annual Meeting; updating and maintaining the inventory database; preparing shipments of equipment and supplies; organizing the SEC storage area; researching hardware and software purchases; troubleshooting hardware problems; configuring and performing maintenance on hardware; participating in the setup of registration areas and access control kiosks; supporting these setups during the Annual Meeting; testing and tuning new technologies such as facial recognition and mobile tools; and providing user support to SEC users as needed. This role demands a hands-on approach and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances during high-pressure events.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent advanced degree in Systems Engineering. Additionally, a minimum of 2 years of progressive experience in IT and hardware administration is required. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a strong understanding of technical support processes and possess the ability to troubleshoot and resolve hardware issues effectively. Proficiency in both English and Spanish, both spoken and written, is mandatory, while knowledge of French and Portuguese is considered an asset. The candidate should also be a citizen of one of the IDB's 48 member countries and must not have any family members working at the IDB or its affiliated organizations.
Educational Background: The educational requirement for this position is a Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering or a related field. An equivalent advanced degree may also be acceptable. This educational background ensures that the candidate has a solid foundation in technical principles and practices relevant to IT support and hardware management.
Experience: The position requires at least 2 years of progressive experience in IT and hardware administration. This experience should include hands-on involvement with technical support, troubleshooting, and maintenance of hardware systems. Candidates should demonstrate a track record of effectively managing IT resources and providing user support in a professional environment.
Languages: Proficiency in English and Spanish is mandatory for this position, as the consultant will be required to communicate effectively with SEC users and stakeholders.
