Job Overview:

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Economist will have a range of responsibilities, including: leading analytical work on poverty and equity issues; providing technical and policy advice to country teams; engaging with government agencies and development partners; analyzing the distributional impact of policies; supporting the development of statistical public goods; and contributing to the regional and global knowledge base. The role also involves delivering just-in-time analytics in response to requests from country teams, conducting capacity-building initiatives, and supporting the implementation of projects aimed at enhancing transparency and accountability in governance.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master's degree in Economics, Statistics, or a related field, with a strong quantitative background and programming skills. A minimum of five years of relevant professional experience is required. Additionally, candidates should have a solid foundation in applied development microeconomics and statistical modeling, with experience in designing and analyzing household surveys and performing complex econometric analyses. A track record of delivering analytical products that translate technical findings into policy-relevant guidance is essential, along with demonstrated ability to engage effectively with government counterparts and development partners.

Educational Background:
A Master's degree in Economics, Statistics, or a related field is mandatory for this position. Candidates should have a strong quantitative background, which is crucial for the analytical work involved in this role. Additional certifications or training in econometrics or related fields may be advantageous.

Experience:
The position requires at least five years of relevant professional experience in areas such as applied microeconomics, statistical modeling, and policy analysis. Candidates should have prior experience in conducting household surveys, analyzing welfare outcomes, and engaging with government and development partners. Experience in delivering analytical products and working in a fast-paced environment is also essential.

Languages:
