Job Overview:
The Business Intelligence and Digital Transformation internship at UNHCR Korea offers a unique opportunity for individuals interested in gaining hands-on experience in data management and analysis within the context of a humanitarian organization. The intern will be integrated into the Private Sector Partnerships (PSP) team, specifically within the Business Intelligence and Digital Transformation (BIDT) unit. This role is designed to provide practical exposure to the operations of fundraising, data management, and digital transformation initiatives. Interns will engage in various tasks that will enhance their understanding of how data drives decision-making and operational efficiency in fundraising efforts. The internship is structured to support the long-term growth plan of the private sector fundraising program, allowing interns to contribute meaningfully while developing their skills and knowledge in a supportive environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern's duties and responsibilities will be tailored to the operational priorities of the BIDT unit during the internship period. Key responsibilities include:
  • Business Intelligence (BI) Support: - Assisting in data processing, validation, and reporting activities related to fundraising operations. - Conducting quality checks and data validation for reports, dashboards, and related systems. - Maintaining operational documentation, user guides, and knowledge repositories.
  • Digital Transformation (DT) Support: - Updating and maintaining operational documentation, including user manuals and standard operating procedures. - Organizing information related to BIDT systems, projects, and service providers, including roles, contacts, and incident records. - Conducting basic testing of system changes and new features, documenting related issues and improvement requests. - Preparing background materials for system reviews and improvements, ensuring compliance with data protection and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">information security protocols.
  • General Administrative Support: - Supporting administrative and coordination tasks related to BIDT operations. - Performing other duties relevant to the position as requested by the supervisor. Note: The intern's role will primarily focus on organizing and maintaining operational information rather than directly operating the systems, ensuring effective collaboration with multiple internal and external stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for this internship, candidates must meet the following minimum qualifications: - Be a recent graduate (having completed their studies within two years of applying) or a current student in a graduate or undergraduate program from a university or higher education institution accredited by IAU/UNESCO. - Have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies in relevant fields such as information systems, computer science, statistics, business administration, economics, data analytics, or other related disciplines. Additionally, desirable qualifications include: - Knowledge of SQL and the ability to write and understand basic SQL queries. - Strong written and spoken communication skills in both Korean and English. - Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications. - Familiarity with Microsoft Power BI or other reporting/visualization tools is advantageous. - Exposure to cloud platforms (e.g., Google Cloud Platform) is a plus. - A keen interest in data management, reporting, and digital transformation, along with strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies in relevant fields such as information systems, computer science, statistics, business administration, economics, data analytics, or other related areas. This educational background is essential to ensure that interns possess the foundational knowledge necessary to engage effectively in the tasks and responsibilities associated with the internship.

Experience:
The internship is designed for individuals who are either recent graduates or current students, meaning that formal work experience is not a prerequisite. However, any relevant experience in data management, analysis, or related fields will be considered an asset. The focus is on providing a learning opportunity rather than requiring extensive prior experience, making it suitable for those looking to gain practical skills in a professional setting.

Languages:
The mandatory languages for this position are Korean and English, with strong written and spoken communication skills required in both languages. Additional Notes:
This internship is a full/part-time role with working hours from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday to Friday, totaling 40 hours per week. The successful candidate will be assigned to support the team either in location or home-based, depending on the operational needs. Interns who do not receive financial support from an outside party will receive an allowance to help cover the costs of food, local transportation, and living expenses. This position does not require a functional clearance and is not remote.
